Default Wanting to get the most out of FTR

    Hi All,

    My name is Dan.

I am new to posting here and have lurked in the shadows for some time. I posted this in the intro page. But was hoping to get some feed back here. If this is not posted in the right forum please forgive me.

I have a few specific ares right now that I would like to improve in any help you can give would be great just need a point in the right direction. I have PNLE and intend to participate in the book discussion group reading the book now. So thats one way I am using FTR, now to the other goals where a little guidance is needed.

Do you have any goals (and how can we help)?

    1. Become better at hand analysis, so I can more fully participate in discussions. That go on here, and other sites as well.

    2. Become a better player, and improve my overall skills.

    3. Gain a better understanding of poker theory to be better able to explain thoughts, and ideas.

Just some of the reasons why I am here if I missed any please feel free to contact me, and let me know them, and if you have any ideas how to go about the reasons I have mentioned I would be happy to hear those as well.
    Dan

Welcome to the forum!! It's great to see that you have thought out what you want to learn and how you would like to contribute. You will find that there are some incredible players here who will deconstruct your thought process to make you a better player.

Spend time going over the strategy sections and "Learning Starts here." Learn about bankroll management and don't ever deviate from it. But above all, participate. Ask questions. And don't be afraid to answer questions, either. It allows others to see your thought process and correct you where needed.

Feel ya there! Responses look cryptic at first. Still struggle with the jargon around here.

Just remember that Renton hates acronyms and you will do fine.

A smart man learns only from his own mistakes.
A wise man learns from his own mistakes, and those of the smart man and the fool.

    1) click on the Poker Strategy tab at the top and read all the topics. There is some really good info there.
    2) post your hands and be willing to accept criticism for how you played a hand, it will help you in the long run.

Well, welcome to FTR. I too have been lurking for a while and finally manned up and told myself I'm really not that good at poker and I've asked all the boys here at FTR to lend a helping a hand. The strategy essays and free vids alone are enough to give this place two thumbs up.

hello! I'm new here too. I heard getting involved in a poker forum is one of the best steps an online player can take.they got great articles here, and my favorite thing I like here is being able to post and discuss hands. (i dont have 10 posts yet so i cant even use the damn hand converter yet)
