    Default Vbet with bottom pair bottom kicker HU on river

    Was trying to get a new 6max table set up and a fish sat down opposite me. I'd like comments on the river bet by me. At the time I felt like he would be very likely to call me down with ace high maybe even queen high and certainly 22-44, given my uber weak line. I also felt he was very unlikely to be slowplaying a big hand given that I had checked flop and turn back.
    A friend has disagreed with my play and I would like some more opinions.
    NL Holdem $0.25(BB) Replayer
    BB ($10.20)
    Hero ($25)

    Dealt to Hero 5 2

    Hero raises to $0.75, BB calls $0.50

    FLOP ($1.50) K 7 8

    checks, Hero checks

    TURN ($1.50) K 7 8 K

    BB checks, Hero checks

    RIVER ($1.50) K 7 8 K 5

    BB checks, Hero bets $1, BB calls $1

    Range I put him on to call this bet:
    equity win tie pots won pots tied
    Hand 0: 58.621% 57.24% 01.38% 83 2.00 { 5c2c }
    Hand 1: 41.379% 40.00% 01.38% 58 2.00 { 66-22, Ac8c, Ad8d, As8s, Ac7c, Ad7d, As7s, Ac6c, Ad6d, As6s, Ac5c, Ad5d, As5s, Ac4c, Ad4d, As4s, Ac3c, Ad3d, As3s, Ac2c, Ad2d, As2s, K7s, Q7s, J7s, T7s, 98s, 87s, 76s, 65s, 54s, A9o, A7o-A2o, 98o }

    Range my friend puts him on to call:
    Hand 0: 19.718% 16.90% 02.82% 12 2.00 { 5c2c }
    Hand 1: 80.282% 77.46% 02.82% 55 2.00 { 66, 44-33, A7s, A5s, Q7s, J8s-J7s, T8s-T7s, 97s+, 87s, 75s+, 65s, 54s, A7o, A5o }

    Need stats and reads on him - but checking back is usually best with flush, straight and FH possibility's making it less likely A hi will call.

    In dont really see villain having a K,8, or 7 all that often due to his passive line. Although, i dont really expect him to calll with 22-44 either. Maybe he calls with Ahi...idk. If nothing else, id rather he not see that we raised 52s

    HU, definitely bet. If you're always checking back the bottom of your value range on the river it becomes much harder for you to represent anything when you want to bluff. I'm betting some of my better Ax hands too, but it depends on the villain.

    Villain is in the more interesting spot if he has Ax - c/raising would be a really sexy play if btn isn't a station.

    balancing our range against a fish at 25nl isn't top priority imo...

    how often are we going to be bluffing by taking this line anyway? raise pre, check down to river, then bet?

    Dont typical fish villians need of a piece of the board on the river to feel secure enough facing a bet?

    I like it against a half good player who takes this line..
    Im ready this time.

    We dont have any stats on the guy, only read that hes a fish is from the fact he bought in for $10.20.

    That's a pretty reliable read imo.

    What i mean is he could easily be a station feesh instead of a nit need a piece feesh

    this seems a tad thin for me. i don't know why anyone's saying he never has an 8/7/flush here. i think he calls with those more than he does with 22-44 and A-high.

    i'd snap vbet a 7 though

    Against someone who doesn't fold anything that remotely looks like a draw before the river, we would.

    Balancing is meaningless here imo vs a likely non thinking player in a table that's about to become 6 handed. The only factor that's really relevant is whether or not we can assume a random has better hands i.e A5 7x 8x, - I think we can asume this given the passive nature of so many microstakes fish. The other factor is whether or not we can assume a random fish will often call with A high here - I feel like this is a bit of a hopeful assumption without having at least some sort of read to back this up.

    All the crap about metagame balancing our value range and whether or not we want him to see we opened the BU with 5 high is irrelevant compared to the above 2 factors imo.

    it has nothing to do with meta balance and crap, it's a straight forward value bet yo. Tons of players will snap A high there. I will assume that he will until proven otherwise.
