wondering where the 3 extra chairs at my 6max table came from

    Default Using PokerStove during play

So let's get this out in the open... I pretty much suck at math. Don't get me wrong, I can make change for the parking meter and split a dime bag off an eighth. But doing that crazy pot equity math.... shiiiiiit.

So I got the idea from a Spenda vid of having PokerStove open while I played. This only works for me now 'cause I've cut down to 3-tabling to focus on reads, putting people on ranges and two-barrelling. And g*ddamn if it ain't the sh!t! Does a couple of things for me...

    1) Makes me stop and think about ranges for every hand I get mixed up in. I had not idea you could plug in "18%" and the stove would crank some ranges. I know it isn't fool-proof and I take any black box with a grain of salt... but it's a great way to extend what I know from positional VPIP and PFR data.
    2) It helps me get used to how I stand with PF holdings against specific ranges, allowing me to confirm my thinking and then plan positionally.
    3) It helps me "learn by seeing" re: pot equity based on the board thru the streets. Since I ain't trippin so hard on fractional multiplications, it's a great way for me to learn this sh!t.

So there you have it... from one noobie dude to the rest of you. Try it out and I think you'll find it's a great learning tool real time.

    Now where my monies at???

I didn't think of putting a VP$IP% into pokerstove to back out a range, thats genius!

The two of the three things I want to work on more are the math aspect of poker and being able to think about opp ranges.

Hopefully this tool can help me do both.

Spend more time doing this while not playing too, In PT while reviewing hands and ranges. It will help a lot. Even if your close the gap will tighten over time.
