Well, the big problem with raising more than normal with 10s is that a smart player will eventually figure out what you're doing. From early position at 10 player table, I'd be inclined to limp and play for set value or raise standard and hope that I have one caller at most.

Tens are a very vulnerable hand. 60% of the time, the flop will come with overcards. Play them for set value, and raise only if you're in late position and it's been folded to you or you're in late position with a bunch of limpers in front but no raise.
