Tried some laggy today (been a rock lately)

I've been playing very tight, and aggressive lately, and today I decided to try playing laggy... after reading an old old old post of Rippy's (i've played laggy before, and ended up loseing badly,but i'm a much better player now, so it worked a lot better...)

after about an hour i'm up $64 and that was with me loseing a big pot to a 2 outer on the river after getting the nuts and having someone go over the top of my "bluff"...

I sure can see how switching to laggy when people are not calling your raises and then back to taggy when they start calling again makes so much money =)

even better, playing laggy really helps me see the weakness of taggy, and taggy lets me see the weakness of laggy! =)

This has already really helped my Taggy play quite a bit... =)

I highly recomend anyone that plays taggy to try playing laggy once in a while (might want to drop a limit if you do though)

the best players will adapt to others individually. A table of loose passive players can destroy a lag.

lagg play is for tight tables... tagg play is for loose tables

just do the opposite of what the table is doing

Basically, (for me anyway) laggy helps teach better posistion plays and weakness/strength dectection...

taggy makes my money
laggy helps me become a better player (of all styles)

If the table is really LAggy then playing tight will just lose you some marginal pots, and when you do get a hand you'll be very easy to pick. In these situations I tend to be reasonably loose myself by playing more marginal hands, when I do get a hand somtimes it's better to play it passive and let the LAgs do the work..

What you want to be doing is playing in a way that gets best advantage from the other players, this doesn't correspond to set rules.

But as far as the initial post goes, being able to play different styles is certainly a skill you should have.

aggressiveness has nothing to do with tight and loose.

Well, against super aggressive players you should just let them bet into you when you have a hand. So it's feigning passiveness (but really it's a form of slow play)

Against passive opponents you should be aggressive with good hands since they will call you with crap. It's more along the lines of value betting than aggressiveness though.

Against loose opponents you should be slightly more tight preflop than they are - instead of any two cards, play connectors, two big cards and Axs since those will actually turn a profit against any two cards. Against a slightly tighter strategy play against slightly tighter so you are ahead when you're in the hand.

Against tight opponents you can play crap knowing they can't put you on a hand and you can bet crap flops.

This is what I mean by opposite, it's not REALLY opposite, but just playing a different style that will make more money on this table.

Although it's usually much more profitable to play against loose opponents than tight ones.
