Default Tilting, Its just silly, and heres why.

In hold em poker and all other variations, a crucial part of the games stratagy, metagame, and economy, is luck. And by "luck I mean the statisticly improbable, happining at a more then probable frequency.

Poker has to be that way. If playing good got you the money every hand or even every sess or even every other sess you played, poker would not be the god mine it is today.. And gold mine is my chice word....poker is not a shoebox full of money, its a gold mine. You have to get in there and work for that cash, if you have the rsolve, and intestinal fortitude, and a little bit of the smarts, you can dig up near limitless amounts of dough. Ask To Dwan (durrrr) or Jenicide. or eric Edog Lindgren. All of them started at micros. (jen started w/ freerolls and Annette also) They are all multi millioniars now. Ill also bet (gross not net) they have all lost proly over 50 million dollars at the tables...but because they are winningm players, and always get back up, they probly won a few million more. In order to win a million dollars at poker (barring MTT's) you have to lose 10x that amount, at least.

Fish play because thers luck involved. Dont kid yourself, there is LUCK in poker. In the sence of one pot its mostly luck. id say 85%. But by knowing the math, working on reads, and studing the pscology and meta game, we give ourselvs an edge. That edge over time, adds up..

Even a world class pro cant beat a limit holdem game consitantly for 5+BB/100 , So how big do you think your mean edge is? Its not that big....and with that being the case, how can you expect to winn "all the time" or even "alot, or most" of the time. You just cant, your gona lose hands, get drawn out on, make bad calls and laydowns, all of us. The point is though that the majority of poker players rely soly on luck, and that gives them negitive expectation. "play hours not results" Just by being here and trying to apply what your learning your giving your self an edge or +EV. Its gona add up, youll make money, just realize how silly it is to "expect" to win most of the time.

Also note how silly tilt is also. Really 2 reasons make it completly clear.

    1. We tilt when we get outdrawn (not every time i just mean its a reason to tilt) Fact of the mater is we exploited our edge every time we get outdrawn. We've got it in good. Thats all you can do, if you keep doing that, your a winning player in a nutshell. So why get angry, Mike Caro suggests to look at being out drawn as a favorible cicumstance. You got your money in good, nice job. Oh well he hit a card, it absolutly unequivicly HAS to happen somtimes. Thats poker. Pat yourself on the back, tell your oppent NH (so he keeps giving you favorible situations like this) and continue to win....

    2. If every call we made we won, and every bluff we made suceeded, AND every fold we made we were beat. WE WOULD SUCK MASSIVLY AT POKER!! Now i know what your thinking, Theory of poker, but that playing perfect we'd be rich...ok in a vacume yes but....

We wouldent be callg enough, we'd be folding too much, and we'd be bluffing way to little. Somtimes being wrong according to TFTOP (the fund therom of poker) Your actually right juxtaposed to game theory and optimal stratagy.

We dont make plays most of the time based on 1 hand our opp has. We put him on a range. Now lets say we hold KK and the board is

    HERO KK

    4 5 6 9 2

By the way the hand was played we assume our oppent has a wired pair, TT+ (lets say he only raises preflop with those hands, and he raised for simplicitys sake)

If he bets on the end w must call its a correct call, there are 3 hands we can beat TT JJ QQ 1 hand we tie KK and one that we lose AA. As long as we're getting 1:1 (.02:1 really) w're making money so its an easy call. Uh oh he rolls over A A , Did we make a bad call, well FTOP says we did, but not really. We made a call with + expectation.

Same principal applys to bluffing value betting, folding and everything else i mentioned. Somtimes losing the hand, really means your winning. Dont tilt, your doing fine.
