Totally agree with this post, especially the parts about not being at the same table for a long-enough time and people not paying attention to your habits/game.
I am a solid winning-micro looking to form a game long-term that is strong enough to compete at the higher levels.
Only thing that I would add to this conversation is that I believe that there is an element of good "habit-forming" and learning that can be established at the micros to form the a solid foundation and basis for successful higher-level stakes play.
Personally, I am trying to form good habits and occasionally try out some of the more advanced thinking and tactics, just to get comfortable with them and try them out in practice ahead of playing for bigger stakes and vs. tougher players.
Maybe I'm over-thinking and valuing this because it may very well be short-term =EV neutral, but it's been helpful for me to put some of the concepts/tactics outlined by our advanced players into my game.
First time I 3-bet light, missed and c-bet, I almost puked....
