For cash it would basically be the same thing. Say the BR guidelines you've set for yourself dictate you play with 20+ BIs. So you 24 table with 24BIs. You lose a table every time you lose a BI. If during a session you drop to 19BIs, you quit all your tables, drop a level and start 24 tables with now 38 BIs for the level below.
Rinse & repeat.
I don't recommend this because it's not cool to have to shut down a juicy table so have at least enough padding for the nightly swing, but in terms of protecting your roll from busto, this basically accomplishes the same thing as playing 4 tables with 24BI.
If you have a habit of going busto on like 10 tables in the span of 2 minutes then maybe this doesn't work, but I'm not even that bad of a spewmonkey.
