Strategy ideas for playing against ring multi tablers.

Hello. I started playing hold'em in Feb. 06. I am presently bankrolled for and playing micro stakes .10/.20 Limit. I am averaging about 1.5BB per hour for the present level over the last few months, and have been slowly building. I wanted to know what you're strategy thoughts are about playing against Mult-Tabling Ring opponents. Usually I change tables if more than five are present as it slows down the looser players. There are occasions when I run into as many as 8 or even 9 others multi tabling. A full table of them and me. I have messed around with playing against them very tight agg. (this is slow and earns little) and i've played very loose (of course I lost multiple buys). Obviously getting away from this situation is best but sometimes I want to see if I can actually earn in this environment. I have had very little success at best and want to know what you would do for general pre-flop strategy, if you decided to sit at only one table with six or more TAGS that you knew were multi tabling between 2-8 other micro stakes ring games? This will be my 1st post.[img][/img]

As a ring multitabler, I would suggest you develop the skills to become a ring multitabler yourself. Then you can fight fire with fire.

Agreed. Plus I would bet that most multi tablers (like myself and other FTRs) are using HUDs and therefore see lots of data on opposing players. Being a multi tabler, I play much better than when I only played one. It is far easier to get out of a hand than before and I play far fewer hands (because there is usually action on one of my tables).

Renton is right. Try it yourself and I'll bet your BB/100 doubles.

TAGs multitable because it's easier than single tabling. They don't play tight because they are multitabling. You shouldn't care how many tables your opponent plays - just the style they play and how you can beat that.

Advice you'll often hear is if the table is loose, play tight, and if it's very tight then loosen up a bit. I'm assuming these players are tight, so that means you should loosen up a bit when there's a lot of them at your table. "Loosening up" doesn't just mean to call with more SCs or whatever, but to raise with them and use position to take down more small pots aggressively.

You say you've tried very tight and very loose. You don't need to change your starting hands much at all to get completely different results, so just start by loosening up a little bit. Or keep to the hands you have but be a bit more aggressive in position.

Multitabling TAG is the way to go though...

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I did immediately try multi tabling, four at a time in fact. I was losing so I moved down to 3 for break even and then 2 for profit. I'm sure I have lot's to figure out before I can do it well. I think it will be helpful once I get poker tracker set up (the demo ran out so I use a spreadsheet) and maybe a HUD too. For now I have to rely on myself till I win enough to pay for that stuff. It shouldn't be too much longer though. I'm almost bankrolled for .25/.50. Man it takes forever but I only want use what I win. FTR got me hooked!

Good idea to work with 2 tables initially to get the feel of watching them both. For 3+ I think you need a HUD.

You need to start posting hands where you have hard decisions, so you can get your mind where it needs to be. Poker is a thought process that can become contaminated by misconception in different spots. Let us tell you what to do, and why you should be doing it. Also, please always give your opinion or read on the villain(s) before posting the hand.
