    Default Straight on the table?

In Holdem if there is a straight showing on the table is that an automatic split pot or can you add to it to make a better straight. ex. 8,9,10,J,Q showing. Is that a split pot or if someone has the K,A they win over someone with just a K?

Could not find this anywhere would be appreciated if someone could tell me.

    You can add to it.

    Example.

Board: 6,7,8,9,10. If you are holding JQ, you had a straight, 8,9,10,J,Q. Adding to it is excellent

Your final hand is always the five cards out of the seven available that make the best hand. If you hold cards that can make the straight higher, then good for you.

yep, can add. and often, if you have the two above, you are getting paid by the guy with one.

the ultimate rule, and this will clear up any future questions, is make the best 5 card hand that you can make. so even if the board is 66662, your hand is quad 6's with a fifth card as a kicker. if the board is 5 of the same suit, if you have one of that suit in your hand that improves the flush, it plays.
i betcha that i got something you ain't got, that's called courage, it don't come from no liquor bottle, it ain't scotch
