Default Stats to use at 5nl

    Hi everyone,

I am about to start using a HUD and wondered if any consistent winners over a large sample could tell me what stats they use to beat 5nl.

I know there are many stats I could be using, but I want to find the optimal stats to use at this level to enable me to develop some good winning habits.

Also if you can reccomend any good resources or coaching sites that might tell me how to use the stats you suggest to use well that would be useful.

    Thanks

I have only ever had preflop/3bet and Cbet stats on my hud. When I see a flop then I will use the pop up to see other stats. I personally don't need to see a 12/10's fold to turn bet or wts% numbers cluttering up my screen. And quite frankly, nobody at the micros will give you a big enough sample for most post flop stats to make them accurate.

In tourneys I have M instead of Cbet stats

I've got VPIP/PFR/steal/3bet/M on my tourney HUD and that's it. People can recommend as many stats as they want but there's no point starting out with that many or cluttering up your HUD if you don't use them or don't know how to use them. Start off with a simple HUD and if you find there's a stat you keep opening the popup to check then add it to your HUD.

In my experience, notes are far more valuable than stats.

So much this, once you know how someone thinks then you can start to infer how they play different spots.

    VPIP/PFR/3B/Steal/Hands is plenty for now.

Isn't Cbet flop and fold to flop cbet important as well though? Just those 2 post-flop are surely more beneficial than leaving them out?

How many times do you see a flop in 100 hands, how significant is Cbet stats in 500 hands? Do you need to have 9 peoples cbet stats on your hud when you only play 15% of hands and see a flop less than that?

The fact that you ask means you're new to this, which probably means you're playing 2nl or 5nl. You'll rarely get enough hands on any one player to make most of the stats worthwhile.

But that said, I'd still use more than everyone is suggesting. Just because a stat isn't always going to be that useful, certain people will do something the extreme so the stat will be useful.

    I'd prob use:
    vpip, pfr, hands
    3b, f3b
    ats, fts
    cb, fcb

You can make an argument for more or less, but if you find them helpful then go for it and if you don't then don't.

These are absolutely essential to me.
