    Default Starting to multitable

When you're considering getting into this is it best to start with 2 tables and then just see how things work out and if you can handle the pace of play? Then move up to 3,4 and beyond?

I only have the one laptop monitor but want to try to get into as many hands/hour as possible so was thinking of moving to two tables and then more from there if things go well.

I'm assuming for those that do this you play the exact same game on each table depending on if the table is tight, loose, correct?

    Yes, 2 then 3 then...........

Use pokertracker and HUD to aid you in your decisions.

Play each table on it's own. You will play looser/tighter on one table than the next

Ugh, I feel bad for this but I just can't move beyond two tables (6max). I think my game is based too much on reads or something. Two days ago I fired up 3 tables again and within a minute I already got a headache. So full ring I could probably only handle 3-4 tables at once. Hope it goes better for you .. it's a great way to increase your profits per hour!

I went from 1 to 2 tables about 4 months ago. Some adjustment at first, but my win rate increased because I wasn't so eager to "gamble". But trying for 3 just wasn't for me. At Hollywood Poker, you can keep a side window open displaying everything that happens in the hand. I like to know who raised first preflop, and who is raising after each street. For the life of me, I can't read that stuff fast enough when playing 3 tables. Like Jack says, that's how I develop my reads (who is bluffing, who is just calling, etc) and though I use a HUD, it doesn't tell me much about the current hand in progress.

I'll just stick to 2 tables for now.

Lol. I started out playing 6max 10 NL two tabling (I didn't know any better.) I went bust with $50 twice (after many many huge upswings, then huge downswings) before finally I moved to 5 NL 10max four tabling with my most recent deposit.

Maybe I can't multitable (more than 2 atleast) but I think I do fine anyway. Just had another 3 hour session at 20NL for a clean 30 ptBB/100 .

I still envy the hefty multitablers though.. I hope I can learn that skill someday, but it's not too high on my agenda atm. When I start bonus whoring I'll probably have to look into it.

i 10 table full ring both lhe and NL but cant handle more than 4 (normally 3) 6max nl tables or 2 lhe tables.
Its probably more to do with my style than anything else but my stats show a definite correlation between huge winning sessions and less multitabling

I play a fairly tight game [17/8] and really dont have much a problem handling 8 tables of FR if thats all Im focusing on really. Sometimes its your turn to act at several tables but most of the hands you play are going to be fairly standard so they dont take a lot of thinking. Im sure 6max is an entirely different animal, but it can be done, and it can be done very very well [read: lolo at the $2000NL tables at party]
