F + E(1-F) + (1-F)(1-E) = F + E - EF + 1 - E - F + EF = 1

edit: oh ok you just wanted to split off the stuff you put in red. -E * -F = + EF, two negatives make a positive, just like saying "I am not not hungry" = I am hungry.
