Default Something that has helped me lately..

I play at .25/.50 tables, and have a small bankroll... (edit: .25/.50 NL tables)

I normally sit down with $5.00 and when/if I reach $15 I leave the table and find a new one to sit down with $5.00 at...

The reason I do this (and the reason I think it might help other new players) is that I have enough cash at the table to play, and at the same time with only $5.00 of my bankroll at the table, making a bad mistake/bad beat can not cost me more than $5.00 from my bankroll.

Naturally the downside of this is that I if I get the nuts, I will not make as much as I would taking $50.00 to the table... But until I have a much larger bankroll, and more skill, I think I’m much better off playing this way...

    Thoughts?

Well, as a player just starting out, you may be right that you will limit your losses. But you are also limiting your play. If you want to play with less money, just play in lower stake rooms.
I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.

You're playing above your bankroll, bad idea.

If this is a limit game you're certainly costing yourself money. In a NL game you're playing short stack poker and costing yourself the chance to learn to play well with deeper money.

IMHO, short buy-ins should be banned from the NL table. Online there is no cause for them. Actually, it's due to a lack of creativity that we even bother with stack sizes at all online. A 100xBB or 200xBB per hand cap would create a great big bet game and give everyone a fair chance.

I'm surprised that more people don't abuse the short buy-in at NL tables like the matrix guy and his 3 accounts did/does at the Party games.

Well, i've canged to .05/.10 NL tables, where I should have been at in the first place =)

I'm still not sititng down with more than $5, but this is working much better.

    Thanks
