Software for calculating odds...

Hi there, I'm trying to get a better grip on odds and wondered if anyone could suggest some good software for this.

What I'm after is something that will tell me pre flop the % chance of my hand winning, and then as the flop, turn and river develops, the percentage chance of my hand winning.

It would be nice if it also showed the percentages of the various outs individually.

I want to use it for a couple of weeks and I'm hoping some of the percentages will start to stick into my memory.

Also as a second question, I was wondering how the number of people in a game affect your odds of having a winning hand, for instance if you're playing in a six seater and get dealt A-7, how would your chances fair compared against getting dealt the same hand in a nine seater?

What you are looking for you probably won't find, and if you did it wouldn't help you develop your game as you would begin to rely upon the software. Also the software wouldn't know the percent that you hand is gonna win because it would have to know your opponents cards as well to see how well you stack up against them.

But there are a few things you can do. First I would say go and download 'PokerStove'. This software allows you to enter any hand in aainst another hand (or better yet a hand range) and see how they fair against each other preflop. Then you can add in cards for the board and see how you fair then. This program isn't really meant to be used in real time. Instead, pick a few of your most difficult hands from your session and go back and run it through PokerStove creating hand ranges for your opponents to see if you were ahead when you got the money in.

Next we have a Poker Odds article here on FTR. It tells each hands % to win up against another hand, such as a pocket pair vs two overs. There is even an article teaching you how to count outs and calculate odds.

If you look at his original question, then you see the answers he is after are fairly easy to figure out: pre flop, flop, turn, river; number of outs etc. And even versus a range of hands is easy enough for it to be second nature for most players.

I use hold'em/tournament indicator along with HUD.. they work very well in tandem with each other. TI keeps track of your M as well which is very nice. Its a smooth program with great customer service as well.

One of the cute features is the "nuts alert". I love that it gives instant pot odds.

I would advise learning to calculate all of this crap yourself though, then just use the calculator when multi tabling for speed sake.
