    Default small pocket pairs

pocket 77 on down to 22.
i have just about givin up playing these hands, unless i can limp in to see the flop and hope to make a set, and even when i make a set, it is not a sure win.

i am just looking for some feed-back, how others play small PP, in different situations. early position, late position, short-handed?

you can call a raise if you have at least 20-to-1 payoff if you stack the villain
and you can also raise them

    this should help you.
That might work, but there is a thread in the Digest sticky...
It's called something along the lines of "Calling with Small Pocket Pairs"-Fnord.
I trust you will take the time to go to the Beginners Digest Sticky and locate it.

Strong pocket pairs should start at no less than 10/10 - J/J in multi player table situations while Q/Q , K/K and A/A will always be the very strongest pocket pairs in normal poker games.

In any "heads up'' (final two players situation), even a pair of ducks is very strong and any pocket pair should be played as a very strong hand.

In just about every other situation (3 or more players at the table), then I'll normally try to get into the pot for cheap and see the flop for a possible bone crushing set. If I miss the set, then it's normally an automatic fold if someone bets a strong amount after the flop.

    P.s.
9/9 and 8/8 are just as bad as 7/7 or lower at a multi player table i.m.h.o.

Okay... Seriously.... What the hell is up with OG rocco's posts? He writes a post, then edits it, and cuts out a portion, then makes a new post with that cutout portion in it. And this happens nearly every thread.

I raise any PP if opening from any postion at 6-max... then cbet most of the time if appropriate when HU - pref in position. I win moniez this way, and it widens my EP opening range.

I'll call a PFR if I can get 15:1 and prolly not going to get 3bet beyond what I can call... so mostly in position. Then flop sets and get paid... or push villain off their PFR w/ random paint on the turn when they check the flop...

I 3bet in position vs. villains who tend to fold to 3bets or call 3bets and fold to flop cbet. I make moniez this way too.

So that is how I make moniez with small pocket pairs.

Please post your stats filtered for 22-66 UTG and UTG+1 at a 6max table.

I'm about where the OP is on this one. At very loose tables, limping PP's in early position is great, and at very tight ones they're OK hands to steal the blinds with, but most tables are somewhere in the middle and you're not making much money if any by playing your small pairs.

I hear where u at meatdog... and I've actually had some posts on this...

My opening UTG isn't as much for set value, as it is to open my EP range. Ability to steal either PF or on the flop obv depends on the table, and I actually will limp these IF I've got crazy ass 3-bettor on my left. I've heard from some that SCs are a better sub for this, but at least to this point, I've stuck with PPs. I'll pull some stats when I get a chance, but I don't expect these to iso as big money makers, but is not the only reason I play them.
