    Default Should I have folded?

Could anyone explain why the caused him to raise? Was this QJ realising I like my hand? Or were my flop & turn bets weak and asking to be pushed around?

Grateful for any advice, I just had a horrible feeling my Aces were no good. Now I have a horrible feeling they were and he had JJ

Pot is $19.65 after his reraise and you need to invest $4.25, or 4.25/23.90 or 18% to call. Problem is, you don't know where you stand - it can only get worse really - and you're OOP. So this sucks.

Imo you should have bet more on the flop and the turn, you have the best hand so price your opponent to follow. In this case, he might as well have JJ/KQ/KJ/JT and have taken some confidence from his gutshot.

Annoying situation.. if you call you go into the river with a huge pot, your hand cannot really improve anymore and you're first up. Normally this is a call, but here.. if you call you basically have to call whatever he bets on the river too, which is bad.

Specific answer to your question: with position I'd call this, now I think it was ok to fold. A more specific read on the player could however help you decide otherwise. And yeah, bet more on flop&turn in the future. He probably has some high cards, so you need to price him if he wants to improve his hand.

(let me also add that by betting more, this makes your decisions easier.. however this is not the REASON you have to bet more, the reason is to price your opp for seeing another card on this board.. the 'easier decision' is a side benefit)

I would bet more on the flop...

yea - looks like the main problem is your bets before the turn. betting semi-weak OOP leads to lots of these situations on the turn.

id bet 2.75-3 on the flop, then 7-8 on the turn. if they then raise the turn you can more confidentally fold. like jackvance said, if you make it to the river with either this or your line, you'd probably have to call or bet the rest unless a spade and/or a J or Q hit.

and yea - being OOP with no reads sucks bigtime. would anyone take a "keep the pot small" approach here and just check/call after the flop?

    I would check this turn.

    25/50's f'in hard!
Bet more on the flop (pot-ish). As played I would probably call, but its read dependant. Is villain capable of making moves?
