Semi bluffing
I went back to $10NL for a relaxing change today. Very enjoyable. I had an opponent who I had taken a few buy-ins from on different tables. I think he wanted to get back at me. Anyway, one hand went something like this:
Villain dealt 2C 10C. I'm dealt something else. I bet 0.45, and there are 4 callers, including our villain.
Pot is about $2.30
Flop comes down 9S 8C 10S. Everyone checks. (Including me who is disconnected. I'm back in by my next turn though.)
Turn is 4C. First actor bets 0.20, everyone calls, I raise to $2.00, first actor calls $1.80, Villain goes all-in for $8.35. ...
I know he shouldn't have been in the hand in the first place and shouldn't have put much value on his hand, but I can see why he did the all-in bluff if he suspected I may not have had a hand. He has top pair, and even if I have a made hand, he has his 1/3 chance of making his flush, and a lot of folding equity.
Do you think this kind of semi bluff is a good idea?
You have half a hand and a flush draw up against a raise. Go all-in hoping to make them fold. If they don't you still have a chance of winning.
What sort of situations would you do this in?
