    Default 'rilla mad powertrip thread

I've been playing $50 NL 6max for a while now and my stats are good. I posted here a while back that my win rate was around 21.5 BB/100 hands... it's actually creeping upward, and is close to 23.5 BB now, in my last 11,000 hands. My bankroll is only about $1800 though. Should I move up, or wait a bit longer? I haven't played much $100 NL on Party - how different is it? With $50 NL I hardly ever have a losing session any more.

With that win rate you should move up, no doubt. I do suspect that you were mostly running good over those 11k hands, so I hope it won't be a shock if you hit a real downswing starting off at 100NL. In the long run though you should earn more $/hour playing 100NL.

IMO you should always move up whenver you are properlly bankrolled, and 18 buyins is fine for 100nl, even though i like to have more than that. Even if you feel a little uncomfortable playing for more money, the experience you will gain by playing against better players is invaluable. You can always move back down and slaughter the stakes you normally play at if you lose a bit of money.

There are still plently of fish at 100nl, but the players aren't quite as weak and tight.

I'm trying it out this morning. My first hour was horrific - dumped half a buyin on a guy who hit a set of 7s against my overpair (queens)... that was my own fault, because I have a blind spot where short stacks are concerned. If they have only half the max buy-in or less, I assume they're bluffing... and at $50 NL that's usually right. Then I ran into the stubborn mule who calls down all bets when he catches a piece of the board and thinks you're on overcards. As it happens, he was right about that, and he left before I could take the money back with a better hand. Grrrr.

This is not too unusual for me though. It seems like I am rarely in the swing of things in the morning - I'm usually too aggressive and seem to run into all the wrong players for that style. The last couple days I started by dumping a full buy-in at $50 NL and then moving back into the black as the day went on.

Right now I'm only down about $30 so I guess things are going OK. I figure by the end of today I should have a good idea if I can swim with these fishes or not.

    Oh hey, there you are.

I'm getting some "interesting" cards. Interesting in that I didn't know there were so many 2s and 4s in the deck.

Yeah, this is not a great table for mega-aggression with rags. I figured that out about an hour ago. I'm playing pretty damn tight.

I just had 34o... three hands in a row. Prior to that I had 38o twice in a row. Oh yeah, sweet sweet booty cards.

This is just not my day. There is nothing more tedious than long runs of cold cards interspersed with raising good hands and getting out-flopped every time.

Ya I've tried disguising my raises, raising with shit like J8s, 57s, but my cards r not hitting.

Bleagh. I gotta go have lunch or something. I'm down $100, that's enough for now. I think I might lick my wounds with some $50 NL this afternoon.

I can see where the play is a little trickier at these tables than the ones I've been playing, but I also think this morning's lack of success has largely to do with bad luck. My cards have been sucky and since no one's backing down to aggression (legitimate or otherwise), there's no way to make money.

Word, I'm gonna go clear an IGM pay bonus or something . My anus hurts, I'm down $40. This DNCrew guy is a fish with some nice moves tough. If he bets the flop and checks the turn u know u got him though.

You miss my last hand, some guy raises to $4 I call with 22 flop comes 774 he bets, I raise he just pushes AI. I think, he's been playing agressive as crap, he took ur spot when u left and has raised every hand, I put him on AJ-AK. I call turn is a 4 river is a 9 I can't beat the board, and he flips up AK.

    Owwwwwww. That's just nasty.

There was a fair amount of that stuff going on, I just couldn't get the hands to take advantage. I had three guys this morning I know I could have busted out, but they all left before I could get any ammo.

It's a bad thing if the flops never hit with them

I got a shitty run of flops yesterday no matter what I played/raised with, and my bets were getting no respect when I didn't hit and the utmost respect when I did, despite doing the same thing in either case. Tightening up just left me blinding away. I quit down 3 buy-ins, the worst NL ring night I've had since I started (and far, far, from the best ). Just need to remember those times.

usually when i cant hit flops with my AK AQ TT JJ etc i start playing connectors in late position against a raise and actually hit.. sucks when you miss, but its easier to let go of the junk then it is the premium cards.
