I had mentioned a $1/$2 NL live game I would playing in and figured I would post my results.

I bought in for $50 and decided to play TA, with emphasis on Tight to begin with, to get a read on my opponents as I had never played with them before. It was an interesting mix of people with a frioendly atmosphere. I was lucky enough to catch a couple of hands early on and got up about $30. I started to notice as the night wore on and the beer was being consumed, alot more pots were being played and a lot more money was flowing into the middle. Normally I would say this is a good thing... impaired judgement on my opponent's part can only help right? Well, along with more pots came less of a willingness to dump a hand and catching miracle cards seemed to be the theme.

I was still playing TA but not as tight as in the beginning. I was starting to get some decent reads on playstyles and was able to lay down hands like JJ and get away before too much damage was done. I ended up breaking dead even for the night and I walked away satisfied with my play if not a big winner.

I would ask for advice on how people deal with the booze starts flowing freely. Do you loosen up your hand requirements?, bet more aggressively?, try to trap more?, tighten up? get your money in with the solid hands and hope for the best?

Thanks in advance,

Lug
