reraising rules

I remember when we first started playing and any reraise would be the minimum bet of the big blind. Now we realize that any reraise is the minimum bet of the the last raise.

There's still a little confusion. What about a re-reraise? Is it the minimum raise the amount of the last raise or the amount of the first raise? Someone told me that a re-reraise minimum raise amount is the size of the first raise.

Let's look at the example below. There are 3 raises going here.

EXAMPLE A:
Seat 1 posts 200 small blind.
Seat 2 posts 400 big blind.
Seat 3 raises to 1000 (a raise of 600).
Seat 4 raises to at least 1700 (1000 + 100 above a minimum raise of 600 =700).
Seat 5 raises to 2300 (1700 + minimum raise of the first raise = 600)

OR IS THIS CORRECT??

EXAMPLE B:
Seat 1 posts 200 small blind.
Seat 2 posts 400 big blind.
Seat 3 raises to 1000 (a raise of 600).
Seat 4 raises to at least 1700 (1000 + 100 above a minimum raise of 600 =700).
Seat 5 raises to 2400 (1700 + minimum raise of the last raise = 700)

Seat 3 may fold, call 400, or raise to at least 800 (400 + a minimum raise of 400). He raises to 1000 (a raise of 600).

Seat 5 and 6 have the same options as seat 4. Both fold.
Seat 1 may fold, call by adding 800, or raise to at least 1600. He calls.

There's an obscure rule related to minimum raises that I'll add.

Seat 1 posts the small blind of 200.
Seat 2 posts the big blind of 400.
Seat 3 raises to 1000 (600 raise)
Seat 4 only has 1200 left and he pushes all-in.
Seat 1 folds.
Seat 2 calls 1200 (puts in 800 more).
Seat 3 only has the option to call or fold, and even though he was "raised" from 1000 to 1200, it was technically not a full raise, and therefore he does not have the option to RE-raise again to try to push out player 2.

I think I've described this properly. It's only ever happened to me once or twice.

It does answer your question. If I raise 1st with .10/.25 blinds to $1, then the minraises (on for infinity) go $0.75 at a time, until the point that EasyT talks about (an all in that isn't a full reraise)

Ok look at Example A seat 4 then seat 5. Notice how seat 5 raised 100 less then the seat 4 equaling 600. Shouldn't seat 5 raise to at least 700 as in Example B?

THE ANSWER

I don't know where your 100+ figure comes from.
Seat 5 raises to at least 2200 (1600 + minimum raise of the last raise = 600)

If Seat 4 raises to 1700
Seat 5 must raise to at least 2400 (1700 + minimum of the last raise = 700)

yes.

this is the same situation as in edud's example, the first raiser in your example doesn't change anything, in effect the big blind is treated like a raise.
