    Default Reported for collusion

Playing a .50 SNG, and this guy knocks out 2 in a row, and now has the large stack, so we're down to 4 players, and I'm short stack. This guy jokes about how he has to do it all himself, and I respond that I'll be waiting over here while he cleans up, and we start joking around. My stack gets even shorter, and he ends up folding SB to me about 3 out of 5 times.
He ends up knocking 1 more out, which puts me in the money. I thank him for "saving me", and end up out in 3rd. When I move to the next game, this guy that got knocked out is there, and says he reported us for collusion.
I don't know if he was folding to me, actually trying to help me, or just had crappy cards, but even if he was, is that collusion? If he was just being nice cause we had struck up a repoire, and saw I was in trouble, I don't think there's anything wrong here, although I can can see how it might have looked like collusion. Any thoughts here...

Well I always thought collusion is where you sit with friends and chat on msn, etc.. and tell each other what hands they have. Giving an unfair advantage to the other players. The way I see it I do not think that you were in any way breaking any rules.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. They'll probley look up the game #, see it's a .50 SNG, and go back to doing somthing important. Funny thing, the next game I sat w/ him in, I took 3rd again, and he went out 4th...again. And I even managed to do it w/out my "colluding partner".

Gabe, just noticed you joined FTR on my birthday..."a date which will live in infamy".

    So you're 3 months old?

repoire...hmm...that's the most creative spelling of rapport I've ever seen
What's the difference between a large cheese pizza and a poker player?

A large cheese pizza can feed a family of four.

Hooked on phonicks wurkd for me.

I somtimes type words into google to check the spelling, and usually it suggests the correct spelling. It seem's that alot of people have misspelled that word online.

Why not try an actual dictionary, instead of a search engine?

In terms of this actual thread....
In Sng's when I'm the big stack, I'm slightly more inclined to fold my blinds to the guy with a higher stack. It makes sense for several reasons, first of which is that it puts more pressure on the small stacks and eliminates them quicker thus getting me itm. 2nd you stand to lose more if you get into a tricky situation against a bigger stack.

So I find it ridiculous that you got reported. It was just strategy working against a pissed off bubbler. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, they are pretty good about reviewing those reports from what I hear.

Is it okay to ask (in the chat) what cards people have or just folded?
And is okay to answer it?

Lets say youre worried your headsup opponent is sitting on the last Ace, which is the only card that could beat your hand. So you type "did anyone fold an ace?".

Of course you cant be sure that people will answer truthfully, but is it against the rules to even ask?

I think it's horrible etiquite, and I would consider it collusion if somone answers. Because you and whoever participates in this conversation, are hurting the other persons chance of winning the hand, by providing you w/ what could be crucial information. It's also wrong, to anounce what you folded while the hand is still in play, even jokingly.

How does it work in real live games btw, like when people fold their hands pre-flop, if they just toss their cards in theres a chance that they get exposed - or do you get kicked out if you dont "muck" (fold without showing) all your folds?

Never ask what anyone has untill the hand is over for anyone.

I'd be so mad if someone said what they had before the hand was over, and would note them a "dont play with" player.

    If i'm sitting on:

    Qd Jd

    The flop is:

    2d Kd 6d

    Turn:
    Ac

    River:
    As

and someone complains about folding the Ad 7c they had in the hole..

That might have an affect on how I call a sudden all-in from a tight player.

    Q. Is poker Gambling?
    A. Do you use correct bankroll management?
