    Default Reading the table....

After playing at a table for a while, I normally have a feel for no more than a couple of the players.

I have a hard time reading and remembering other player’s styles...

I'm trying to get better, and was wondering what general categories I should be looking to place players in.

    I normally look for:

    Do they Chase Bad odds?
Do they know how to fold?
    Are they Tight?
    Are they loose?
How much do they raise preflop?

I try to watch and find out each of these things for each player.

I do get feelings now that make me think "he will fold to a strong bet" or "I think he is slow playing" but I need to get much much better at this..

    Am I approaching this wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Nope, I think you're right on it. Will they fold to pressure, can they lay down at the river after putting in a lot of money if a scare card comes, will they slow play without the nuts, will they continue aggression pre flop if they miss the flop

Those 'feelings' will start coming more and more often... and they will also be right more and more often!

One thing about reading the table that I feel is important and helpful is what your image at the table is. If you know someone will likley fold to a strong bet, however they know you as a person that bluffs. Then they might actually call you more often then you want.

I think alot of people forget to look how their table image will play into how someone else will play.
