Default "slow" playing / inducing tilt

This isn't something I've done and probably wouldn't want to do ... but what are people's thoughts on "slow" playing in order to try and induce tilt from other players? I don't mean slow playing a good hand, I mean purposely taking ages every time it's your go. I saw somebody play like it earlier, EVERY hand they would wait until the timer (would hit 1 second remaining) before making their move, or often when they wanted to fold they would just time out and then return to the table. This is in a single table SNG.

Now, after a while, they started getting comments in the chat window "zzzzzz", "come on", "ffs hurry up". The people who wrote these comments soon departed, going all in with rubbish hands, then announcing afterwards "thank god I was dying of boredom" etc.

It's obviously not an ethical tactic - but does it have any place in poker or should anybody doing this be shot? I mean, ultimately it put his opponents on tilt and he ended up coming 2nd, and invariably as soon as there were 3 people left on the table he sped up his game and played "properly". I came 3rd, and he didn't get to me at all, btw.

Other people use the chat window to try and induce tilt in the same manner by name calling, laughing when people get beat, etc.

    Thoughts?

I think this fool may have soon someone do this on the bubble in a MTT, not understand why, and start doing it in a SnG.

It would want to be worth a serious ammount of money to me through players tilting for me to be this much of a dickhead in a SnG. I don't think the benefits would outweigh the ethics.

I played an SnG where a person tripled-up on a 3way all-in and with 5 people left he started using this 'tactic'. I can only assume he was hoping the blinds would bleed us dry and force us to make moves. (He was the chip leader at this point)

You may win but, using this tactic surely messes with the amount you earn per hour. I'd rather play more SnG's and try to win than to waste time doing this.

I pull up FTR when the table is running slow. If you can tilt people doing this, they suck anyway. In Turbos one slow opp can take a mariginal skill game and turn it into a luck fest.

I wish all sites gave you about three 'warnings' and then autofolded you.

I think this tactic is not an ethical one, and I do not use it.

The only times I would consider it as marginally valid was in MTT, when the blinds are high and the tables are 1 off merging, and you are short stacked. In case it is not played hand-for-hand to try to wait for somebody in the other table to bust
