"slow" playing / inducing tilt
This isn't something I've done and probably wouldn't want to do ... but what are people's thoughts on "slow" playing in order to try and induce tilt from other players? I don't mean slow playing a good hand, I mean purposely taking ages every time it's your go. I saw somebody play like it earlier, EVERY hand they would wait until the timer (would hit 1 second remaining) before making their move, or often when they wanted to fold they would just time out and then return to the table. This is in a single table SNG.
Now, after a while, they started getting comments in the chat window "zzzzzz", "come on", "ffs hurry up". The people who wrote these comments soon departed, going all in with rubbish hands, then announcing afterwards "thank god I was dying of boredom" etc.
It's obviously not an ethical tactic - but does it have any place in poker or should anybody doing this be shot? I mean, ultimately it put his opponents on tilt and he ended up coming 2nd, and invariably as soon as there were 3 people left on the table he sped up his game and played "properly". I came 3rd, and he didn't get to me at all, btw.
Other people use the chat window to try and induce tilt in the same manner by name calling, laughing when people get beat, etc.
Thoughts?
