    Default Question on Micro Nl

Hi, new to FTR, but been reading for afew weeks. Any ways, I just started online and am starting .5/.1. Is there a "philosophy" in playing such no blinded game? I am calling with everything since seeing the flop is so cheap...any thoughts?

Welcome to FTR. If you want to get better at poker you've come to the right place.

Ok, firstly you sound really knew so I'm guessing you need to leard about bankroll management. You should go into the beginners section and read the sticky thread about that. Its vital to surviving in the poker world.

Secondly there is a phillosophy for beating Micro NL and to be honest what you have the complete wrong idea. The best way to play these games is to fold everything except the best hands preflop and to bet really aggressivly when you do have a hand. Its called playing a tight aggressive style. Hang around the site and you'll pick up a beter idea of what this involves as your game progesses. It would be difficult to lay out a whole strategy here and now.

Also its important that you dispell the idea that it is "cheap" to see the flop in these games. Yes, in money terms it is cheap but in poker stack terms it isn't. It costs you the same ammount in a micro game as it does in a $1000 game, that is 1 big blind or 1/100th of your starting the stack. You must use every one of those 100ths of a stack wisely if you want to be able to beat this game consistantly.

Continue to post questions and hands you play in the forums and I'm sure your game will progress well.

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

    Welcome, wc3x !

I recommend you use this site to start your learning. Once you begin to know the game then it will be easier to understand the things people will be talking about here.

There are certain things which are worth thinking about even now in your poker career. What are your goals? Would you like to make money or do you just want to have fun? Calling every hand is obviously just for fun, but it won't make you much money. You will have expectations to match your goals, but these must be realistic given your skill level.

Stick around. Don't feel stupid to ask anything. We all are here for the same reason.
