QUESTION...

Lets suppose I have top pair like AK or KK on a T,Q,K all heart flop (of which I have no hearts in my hand), and my opponent bets out at me. Can I really give him credit for flopping a flush or a straight? Since the odds of floppin a flush or a straight is around 1%, would you think overall it would be more profitable to fold, or raise in this situation, and then fold if re-raised, but if called, keep betting at it? Now I know it depends on wha type of player your up agaisnt. But im askin overall what would probably be wiser if perhaps you dont have a read on that player.

Most *good* players bet out with an Ace of hearts here on the flush draw. And, then they get raised by the guy holding the TPTK. If three bet, its a call down unless a fourth heart hits, at which point you should muck.

So your sayin I should raise and keep betting at it as long as the fourth heart doesnt appear?

yep, or until reraised. (watch the check raise on the turn for a perfect example)

One more thing, lets say you limp with 3 other players in a hand, in middle position, with say like KQ,or JQ, and the flop comes, 7,8,T, two diamonds (of which you hold none) ,everyone checks and turn is a Q of diamonds,and someone bets out before you. Now I know it depends generally on the read, but usually what would be better to do? Raise or Fold?

I would raise here, Then call down. If another diamond comes up then its an easy check fold.


Regarding your earlier question, I played 2/4 and 3/6 in January for $2400. I'm playing 5/10 in February, we'll see how this month goes

people will usually bet their draws on a 4-flush, usually 1/4-1/2 the pot..if the questionable guy was in early position i'd be more wary of him checking something good early....but otherwise, he may have a high diamond he'll go after...but you have to be wary of your kicker as well...its a tough position as you can be fairly dominated, or he has a nut draw which you would want to bet big against if you felt you weren't dominated...

In the situation with the KK, i would through out a raise, if he had either a flush or a straight its not very likely he will push unless he is short stacked. Even if he does you still have 9 outs to bet him on the turn and river so i would say through out a raise. AK isnt bad here either, you do have to be a little worried about the flush but i would raise anyways, a jack gives you the nut straight so this puts more pressure back on your opponent if he doesnt have the flush. In these two instances i would surely raise.
