    Default Question

$3 in the pot and 0.50 to call = 6:1 pot odds. I got 2 more Fives and 3 more Tens to give me 5 outs here to improve, or 4:1 odds.

is this right how is it that 5 outs gives you 4:1 pot odds?

Need more details on the hand. Got a history?

No limit is a game of implied odds and circumstances. How deep is the money left out? How likely are you to get paid off if you make your draw? How likely is your draw already dead? Under the right circumstances I'll call 50c with medium pocket pair chasing the set. Or any pair chasing trips or 2 pair. Or just to show that I'm not going to respect a 50c bet.

This was not my hand it was a limit hand from a different site and that is why he said. At that moment he had a pair of 5s which was the low pair. So he also had 10 in his hand. My question was how could it be with straight Odds that on the next card he can improve. My calculations it is like 10% or so.

Those are not the odds that he will improve on the next card. Those are the odds that he will improve on the turn OR the river. Technically, with 5 outs, the odds are 8.4:1 against that you will improve from the flop to the turn, and 8.2:1 that you will improve from turn to river.

These equate to 3.9:1 odds that you will improve on either the turn or the river.

    MATH:
Odds of improving from flop to turn= 5cards/47unseen cards= 1/9.4
    (1 in 9.4 times= 8.4:1)

Odds of improving from turn to river= 5cards/46unseen cards= 1/9.2
    (1 in 9.2 times= 8.2:1)

Odds of improving at all= Odds if improving on flop to turn OR Not improving on turn AND Improving on River

    (5/47) + [1-(5/47)] * (5/46)

5 outs gives you 8.5-1 oddsish. next.
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

This pot odds stuff is too confusing. Hold on and I'll deal out 206,887 hands of this exact situation with my deck of cards here. I'll let y'all know the right odds in April.

If you get to see both the turn and the river then you have ~20% equity with 5 outs (using the rule of 4). Therefore, that's 4:1.
