Default QQ v utg raiser poll

full table, everyone has 100bb, unknown raiser makes it 3.5bb utg. everyone folds to you on button holding QQ, what do you do?

Raise or call for me depends on reads.. the laggier he is the more I'll be inclined to raise him. The taggier the more I'll just call. So i voted #3.

Btw why are you asking this?..

its against a completely unknown player, reads are impossible

Then I call. I have no way to put him on a range of hands so I want to keep the pot small.

I never call here. If here raises 3 .5X the BB I am going to raise him 5 XBB. First I want the blinds out. Second I want more inforamtion on where I stand. By reraising I can get a better feal for what he has. If he just calls chances are I have him beat. If he comes over the top real big I can throw it away. IF he raises me back say another 10BB I call and check out the flop. If I don't hit I am probably done with the hand.

3 months ago I would have called. Now I would reraise 3x his raise.

I'd re-pot this the large majority of the time.

If the villain was a very tight mutlitabling regular, i'd be much more inclined to just call.

depends on the average sort of player at those stakes. Id probably reraise an unknown at the 10NL I play at, but if it was a higher stakes game on a site where an unknown is likely to be a multitabler then a call is probably a better default.

ha, who am i kidding, I almost always reraise in this spot. But if a guy is raising like 2% of his hands UTG (which IS the range of a few of the regulars I play with from UTG), raising is just dumb. but that's obvious.

At unibet with 10NL-lets-all-nutcamp this is "more often than not" a premium hand lol. At 20NL I'd be more inclined to raise it b/c there are more loose aggressives there.

QQ is a premium hand. Assuming this is something like a 25NL table, he could just be holding a high (not face) PP or something like AQ or AJ.

I'd be tempted to re-raise him knowing that I'd be getting info and I'd be last to act after the flop.

I like to Reraise here. Calling tells you nothing and if the flop comes all unders you could get stacked. Reraise here and see how he responds. Then if the flop comes AKX you can muck it..

I think getting rid of the blinds is a real consideration. Maybe even the much-derided min-raise might work here?

    You gotta pop it up.

Raiseing has got me far more than calling QQ is a good hand for me because of the raises. Almost gauranteed to be reraised by AA or KK anything else calls. Sets always reraise post flop.
  21. #21
This is interesting ... If you were to re raise and then get min reraised would you put them on K K or A A and still call..? How would you play the flop if it were checked to you on a flop like rainbow 10 5 3 ?
  22. #22
if reraised even min re reraised I'll see the flop If I don't catch I usually fold. After the flop I watch how he bets. I'm not looking for a big pot now, so he can slow play his set if he wants but I'm not paying large with just QQ and crap on board or5 an A, K. I check it down and try to take what's already in the pot(probably10 or 11 bb. If he has a set and wants to let me draw on my cards so be it. Probably not an expert style play but it's working for me in the beginner rooms.

Tonight I had QQ vs this ultra maniac:he won with ATo unforuntaly.Oh well.
  24. #24
To me, in isolation, the fact that I'll have position postflop means I'll be more inclined to play it calmer. If he would have position on me, I'll want to get the money in more often preflop because if we go to see a flop he'll have the advantage on me..
