PTBB/100???????

Stupid question I know but what does this mean? Something big blind im sure but was does the PT stand for?

Its point bb/100 hands. Say you play .50/1.00 blinds and you are running at 3 ptbb/100 over 1000 hands. The 3 ptbb/100 means you are winning $6 every 100 hands and over 1000 hands means you should be up $60. Im pretty sure thats right, someone can correct me if im wrong.

PT stands for PokerTracker. Since limit used to be the big game BB stands for big bet (twice the big blind). People use PTBB to avoid confusion with bb which is usually interpreted as big blind.

And bb/100 should use big bets, so rolla is right that 3bb/100 @ 100NL is $6/100 hands

also, PTBB is also predominately a N0 Limit term because the BB (Big Bet) in limit IS twice the bb (big blind). not so, in NL, unless as defined by PT.

I think you're saying the same thing.
Big Bet has no significance in NL, so we call it PTBB. So the "PT" is only really important to add in NL discussions.

I see bb/100 and BB/100 used a lot on the forums and I'm not always convinced that the poster has intentionally changed his case from lower to upper case; that is, lots of the folks who just never use uppercase at all, ever, don't seem to adjust and it's often not clear from context.

I guess I'm wondering if -- since the old days when PT was king (i.e. before HEM) and most people played fixed limit -- when people write "bb/100" these days, they really do mean big blinds and not big bets? I mean, if it's not otherwise noted, is big bets or big blinds assumed nowadays?

Yes, I understand that. But move often I just see people write "bb/100" or just use the word "winrate." What I was asking was in general, for the vast majority of posts out there, if people aren't writing "ptbb" are they referring to big blinds? Is that now the norm now in this post-fixed-limit era?

In all seriousness, why does NL use PTBB or BB at all? What does 2x the big blind have to do with NL? In limit, win rates are measured in BB/100 because hey, there's a big bet. In NL, there's the big blind with no-cap betting (usually), so why aren't win rates in NL simply measured in bb/100? Doesn't make much sense.

I dont use HEM, but I'm guessing their winrate stat doesn't refer to their competitor's number, ptbb/100, correct? That would be nuts. Either way, I know, it does seem weird, but since most people don't announce which one they are using when they post, I was wondering if one or the other is definitely the assumed stat these days.

HEM uses BB/100, same as ptbb = 2x the big blind

1) HEM has both bb/100 and BB/100 available as stats to include in reports
2) ptBB/100 is the standard for reporting winrates

Typically, when people type out 5bb/100 or w/e, it probably just means big blinds, not Big Bets. Most people know to make the distinction, and I really don't see many people that use BB that much anymore. Most either use bb/100 for big blinds obviously, or ptbb/100.

Personally, I don't get why people use ptbb/100 at all. It's like wtf, lets do more math for no reason at all. -_-

Mainly ppl who are used it from the old days when ptbb was the only option in PT.
