    Default PokerEV s/w question

somebody has to explain to me what the F the pokerEV software is trying to tell you?

for me, the blue line runs parallel to but above the red line which runs above the green line.

why do i care about showdown winnings? i can see that expressed as a % in PT.

why do i care about total winnings? again, i can see that in PT.

somebody tell me what the sklansky bucks are trying to tell me. i know its supposed to tell me if i run good or bad. but, i cant tell how.

yesterday, i ran well. today, not so much. but the graphs look the same. blue above red above green. and not much spatial difference between them when compared to yesterday, either.

What I can tell you is maybe 10% of the pokerEV graphs posted here are people running good. Mostly they are just "I want sympathy and science can prove I deserve it"

Red: Expected winnings at showdown. Coinflip example. We're wagering on a coinflip. I give you $2 for heads, you give me $1 for tails. You lose the first flip, so you're down $1 but your sklansky bucks (what your expectation is on each individual flips) is +$0.50. Take this same principle and apply it to poker, and those are your sklanksy bucks.

Your blue line is your showdown winnings in $$ or BB depending on your settings. If its above the red line, youre winning more money than your mathematical expectation says you should. If its below, youre losing more money than your mathematical expectation says.

Your green is your total money won. This takes into account times you folded, called and lost, etc etc and so it will always be below the other two lines unless youre on a heater from heaven. Logic says we lose money when we dont see showdown (because we folded).

So the disparity between the lines, particularly red and blue can show you how good/bad youre running. My blue line is almost 10 stacks below expectation, however my expectation is line is on a steady incline. I'm clearly running bad but playing good.

    Hope that helped

The luck graph isn't what he's talking about here.

The green/blue lines are mainly for comparison with the red line which is the most important thing PokerEV offers other than the extensive filtering setup.

The red line is Sklansky bucks, which is representative of how much money you put in on each street/size of the pot relative to how much equity you had in the cards. I'm not sure of the exact formula but I think it's in the help files.

I never mentioned the luck graph, but its the same. Ones just for all-ins, the other is for all showdowns.

let me see if i understand this. thank you both, btw.

euph, if i am running poor, my red line will be HIGHER than my blue line. hmmmm. that checks.

spoon, you are saying that where the red line comes from is how much money i am betting/calling in relation to my equity...on that street? if i have only 40% equity, but i shove, does that mean my red line will go up when villain sucks out?

the way i thought it worked was if you mathematically SHOULD have held up, but got sucked out on, the money that you SHOULD have won (ie, villain calling my push when behind) is what drives the red line upward. if he called $10 when behind, i should show a $10 bump in my red line, yes?

and, of course, if i bet $10, he calls, but he makes his flush on the turn, but i fire another $10...it should offset because i put in $10 while ahead and $10 while behind, right?

one more thing. for a TAG, the red line will rarely, if ever, run below my blue line since i am rarely getting involved when behind. however, i can track how close they are running together. if they are close i am running more normal than if they are really far apart?

ahhh, the dreaded triple. sorry for the crude writing...and the size...but, is this right? this should be what bad beats look like, right?
