I'm not trying to be rude here but aside from joining a training site, why not try and post more poker hand related questions at this site which is free?
11 posts in 3 years? It's time to start posting hand histories and getting feedback....its the best value considering its free.

absolutely 100%, you get what you put in. there is just as much info here on ftr that there is on a training site. The format is different, but like vinland said. Post some hands here in the BC, download equilab, or pokerstove, an get ready to put in work..

btw, you can join Deuces Cracked for a week for free. Download as many video series as you can, and just keep on being active here on ftr.

I agree i should post more, i m member of few forums and read a lot of comments on hands related, the problem i have with that is that by doing that you have no idea who is right or wrong, i ve seen people who have over 1000 posts, who comment on every hands and are huge losers. So unless u know which poster crush the game and which one isnt it s very hard to get much from poker hand related.

from all forum i read, i can tell you that 70%+ of posters who think that they know it all are clueless

I think FTR is one of the best though, this is why i keep coming back here

Think that's just because the clueless regular posters like myself are about even in number with people who actually know what they are talking about

Totally understand what you're saying about not knowing who to listen to, who's right, who's wrong, etc. But you should never take anyone's opinion on a poker forum as fact anyway. There's too many variables. That's why there's always more than 1 reply to a hand. Anyway, do your own investigating and experimenting from the replies here to see what works for you. No one will give you a cookie cutter answer because there's no real cookie cutter questions. Try to learn the "why" instead of looking for the "how" and you'll be fine. GL.

Don't quote spam. We know how to delete the stuff but then the words remain in the forum for other spammers searching for those terms

That's pretty much what I was thinking. The deciding factor in any poker situation is EV. Basically it goes like this:

I'm going to make up some numbers to illustrate a point.

    Let's say I'm break-even at 5NL with a winrate of 1 bb/100.
If I buy a book or software or spend money to join a training site, then that costs money. Let's say $50.
Assume my skill improves dramatically, so that now I'm winning 3 bb/100.
    So the difference (the amount that I can attribute to the purchase) is ( 3 bb/100 - 1 bb/100 = ) 2 bb/100.
At 5NL, 1 bb is $0.05. So that means I need to win ( $50 / $0.05 = ) 1000 bb's above and beyond what I would have won anyway to break even with 0 EV on my purchase.
With a difference in winrate as 2 bb/100 hands, that means the purchase will pay for itself after ( 1,000 bb / 2 bb/100 hands = ) 50,000 hands.

The thing is, now I have to consider that I would have improved (at least a little) over that 50,000 hands, even without the purchase... so that 50,000 is too small.

OK, so this long illustration is to show you that when you're playing the micro-stakes, you're getting far more EV from personal study and dialogue with friends and like-minded people than you are from a book or software.

Once you have improved as a player to be playing higher blinds, then the number of hands you have to play to make the purchase 0EV is much fewer.

Of course, you might not care about any of this... but ultimately, you will realize that every poker decision should be based on EV.

Grinder School is a bargain imo and provides more than enough to comfortably beat levels up to 100nl (just as long as you have good self-control!). Plenty of friends of FTR either currently instruct on there or have in the past and I can't recommend it highly enough for the price.

wow, i don't agree at all at not being able to tell who knows what, and what have you. The point is that it stimulates the brain just discussing poker. If your going to start nit-picking w/ 22 posts about bs excuses. Your going to have a hard time.

I wasn't even going to keep it going, but I hate excuses.... Put in the work bro.

pokerstrategy.com wasn't mentioned, it's enough to earn 1 point at their partner rooms and u'll have loads of VODs for free. Completely free are this one and 2+2
If things were to magically revert to January 1st, 2003, only I could take everything I know now in terms of poker ability/knowledge, bonus clearing, etc., I think it's safe to say that it would be trivially easy to make over a million dollars.

I've tried a bunch of sites. But right now have memberships at Cardrunners and PokerZion. I play microstakes, and both sites are good.

The trick is just finding what works for you. I found that i like the classroom/lesson style videos more than say the live sweat/ 4 tabling type things.

I ve joined moreEV and have been pleasantly surprised, it s FREE (this is why i tried that one 1st ), they have a lot of concept/masterclass video followed by quizzes to see if you got it.
And, something i havent seen anywhere else, they give away free coaching to their members.

I used to be a member at DC when I played full time but might try out RunItOnce. Anybody use it, I play SSFR & will start playing HU again soon.

I really liked card runners and drag the bar- the both offer a wide spectrum of instructional videos.

The other one i liked was husngs.com- while they really specialize in hu super turbo sngs- ifeel this type of instruction will help both sng and mtt players improve their hu play. The blinds in sup turbos are similiar in depth to the hu portion of most sngs.

Dude seriously....POST SOME HANDS!! spend some $$ on a website membership if you want I'm sure it will help but you gotta post some hands when you put ideas into practice.
Post a hand, break down what you think your opponents range is and ask for advice on ways to play it. Don't always go with the big 200bb hands, post ones where you don't know if you should cbet or if you should bet river etc....

thx but I m now part of a chat group with MoreEV (with coaches, winning players and staked players) where we talk about hands all the time.
IMO it s far better than posting hands on forum where you dont know if the answers you get are from a winning players or not.
I m not saying that posting on forum is bad but it s hard to know if the answers u get r good or not.
