Playing multiple tables: Yes or No?

I'm just curious how many of you play multiple tables at once online. I don't, but am considering trying it. For those of you that do it: How successful are you and how much does it hurt you to not be able to fully observe the other players at your tables?

i play 2 $20 single table tourneys at a time, and right now for june i am kicking ass, placing in the money in 5/6 tourneys i have played. ever since i switched to 2 table i have been doing much better, tried 3 tables but its tooo much, especially when you get shorthanded on all three tables. and you cant get a good read on players if you are too preoccupied, i think 2 tables is perfect, at least for me

I play 3 NL 25 ring tables at once on Party Poker and find it's more profitable than 1 or 2. It can get overwhelming at first (especially when you have tough decisions on multiple tables at once), but once you get used to it it's pretty easy to manage. Playing on 4 tables at once or 3 or more 6max NL games is pretty insane though.

I often play 2 round table at once. But I have found that I can't play 2 tables if they are different.

If I play 1 limit table and 1 no-limit table, I get screwed up. If I play 1 $10 NL table and 1 $25 NL table I get screwed up. I tend to confuse the betting styles on the tables. (bet too much on the smaller limit, too little on the bigger limit) I have never tried 2 tournaments at once, but I would imagine this would be similar if the blinds were at different levels.

Also, I wouldn't recomend playing 2 tables if one of them is small. If there are only 2-3 people at a table, the action is just too quick to manage a second table.

But if I get into a big table, I almost always look for a second table.

As far as the betting styles, you can always play catch up. When the bet comes around to you, look who has done what. All the information is sitting on the table for you.

I focus on one table most of the time. Although you can deduce who has bet on the current round, I have trouble remembering if the guy raising now is the same one who raised on the flop, etc.

Sometimes, usually when I hit a bad run of starting hands, I'll start up a second table. When I do I usually play Omaha. You can make pretty good money at Omaha, iff you stick to really good starting hands. Nobobody wants to fold in that game, and when you hit the nuts (which happens a lot more frequently than in Hold 'em) you can pull down a pretty good pot.

That way I can still put a lot of focus on my Hold 'em game, but grab the best hands when I get them in Omaha.

I play 3 tables at once, all the same - $25 NL ring game.

If I mix in a SNG, then I'll usually just play two, since the SNG's require more concentration and action once it becomes short-handed.

Last sesion I played 4 tables - 3 $25 NL ring games at PartyPoker and 1 $2-4 at PacificPoker.

I enjoy a certain a level of action and 3 tables is just about right for my game.

2 tables for me. 3 is too many for my connection, things get too slow. I'll play 2 rings or throw in a SNG. Or if i'm in a MTT i'll open a cash game.

Playing more than one table is better for me because it is much easier to be patient and tight by seeing twice the hands. If you play with tables windowed you can pretty much see all the action at both tables and not miss anything.

The only problem is that when I play live at only one table, I find myself getting bored.

Most of the time I'll play 2 tables, sometimes 3 depending upon my run of cards on the other 2 tables. I use UB's mini-screen option which makes playing multiple tables easier. It's just hard to remember the betting technique of the players because all you see if their seats rather than their position.

I've tried, but find I still don't have the concentration level to play more than one table yet. The few times i've tried I've found myself focusing on one table more than the other.

When im playing limit I always play at least 3 tables, much more profitable then 1. Its also a very mechanical game and you have very few tough descions

In my nl ring games i play usually play 3 as long as there all full 10 person tables. When I drop down to 6 max tables I can usually only handle 2 as im playin many more hands and it gets really tense.
I Have notice that when I play 3 tables I usually notice less about oppent playin styles and what there willing to play ect. I also bluff less and play less hands. But the extra profit makes it more then worth it.

Playing more than one table can result in a faster income, or a higher BB/hr., but be careful it will decrease your overall table BB/hr, and you must realize how much.

That line may be confusing, but this is my key to playing more than one table successfully.

Eg.


You do very welll in the 4/8 game. Your average is 1.2 BB/hr, with about 2,000 hrs. of play.

You decide to try 2 tables at once. Your BB has now decreased to .8BB/hr for 2,000 hrs. of play. Yet, it is .8 for each table, for a total BB/hr of 1.6. This is a very profitable move.

You now think you can play 3 tables at one time. Your bb decreased to .4BB/hr. Total of 1.2BB/hr. You shouldn't play at this level.


Although, moving up may also be a good option too. Research all your options to find what is best for you and your situation.

I find I do best playing 3 tables at once. I play conservatively and don't see a ton of flops so playing 1 or even 2 tables I get bored out of my mind. Playing 3 seems to be perfect because I can handle it even if I'm in the middle of playing 2 or 3 hands at once (if I get good hole cards).

I have played 4 from time to time (especially during Lucy Jones) but I find that when I do get a run of good cards it can be really hectic trying to make decisions on the turn or river on 3 tables at once! The other thing I've noticed is that when you have the time to make the quick bet with little or no hesitation it usually works out better for you than when there is a long delay (while i'm deciding on another table) before you check or bet....it can make you seem weak even if you're strong and then you can get outdrawn.

I find 3 tables perfect because I can pay attention to the tables enough to have a good idea when someone is bluffing, on a draw etc and if the opportunity arises I can take a stab at stealing a pot when it appears no one has hit. With 4 tables the action is so fast and furious I just can't concentrate enough so I think it costs me.
