Default Playing against FTR guys in cash games

This may seem silly, but I would like some of the experienced players to weigh in on the etiquette for playing against folks we know from FTR forum posts. I just met another FTR guy who plays where I do at similar stakes (grny). If we sit at the table together, it will be the first time I've played someone who I knew, whose opening range and AF I could guess before playing any hands. We obviously don't want to cheat, collude, or do anything that might make others think we're cheating. Here are some questions.
    1. You probably respect their raises more than a complete unknown, but how much "respect" is "collusion to play soft"?
    2. We all want a high fish-to-shark ratio. If someone we know is solid sits down, that takes a seat from a potential fish. There may not be enough great tables for two multi-tabling players to sit at all different games. Any thoughts on table selection with a good FTR player active at your site and at your level? (I play 6-max, and there may not be enough dead money to share, especially if the table shortens to 5 or 4 players.)
    3. Do you chat with FTR'ers during play? If so, are any comments typically off limits like mentioning FTR?
    4. What is the etiquette for posting a HH against another FTR player? Do you message them to get permission first? Probably shouldn't call them a donk, but it might be interesting to see two FTR'ers heads up and hear what both were thinking as they played it.
    5. Given #4 happens, then #1 becomes even more of a potential problem.

Just curious how this works. I 've found FTR to be a major assistance to my improve as a poker player, and I would like to compete against some folks I can trust to play well. But I don't want to piss anyone off just from some naive but inappropriate action.

my opinion is that you should both continue to play your best....AGAINST each other.

sure, we all have friends here, but we still like to kick their butts. amirite?

sure, chat, but it may be better to do it through msn, yahoo messenger, aim, or some other form of chatting where no one will pick up that you know each other. i'm sure collusion happens through these methods, like "i have J7 hearts. what about you?" but, lets try and preserve the integrity, if there is any, of the game. as a golfer, i hate cheaters with a passion.

but, get in their with him and kick his ass, he most certainly will do the same to you if given the opportunity.

i have sat down with regulars, and even my brother, and chatted through msn, etc. and, i respect them as solid players, and adjust my game accordingly. but, if i have KK and i feel he has AA, i'm still sticking it in preflop. and, if i bust him, i may laugh at him a little harder, but we dont take it personally.

try to kick his butt, but dont try so hard that the others can sit back and pick you both off.

When you post HHs with the converter, it doesn't show their name, so fuck em.

Yesterday I played on the same table as two very respected 100NL FTRers. I basically just reraised every time they bet and got folds. I tend to give FTRers less respect.

Just play your best and do as you would normally do, I would try to keep FTR out of the chat box though.

Dont run scared, it is a superb opportunity to have your ass kicked by someone who might actually give you some pointers afterwards instead of just making off with a fraction of your roll!

The pic isn't mine - I got it from a "babes on belay" article in Outdoors magazine (I think, don't really remember). I'm a rock climber, and I thought it was required to have an avatar w/ T&A to be a real FTR dude. So I got some (sort of). Do you climb? What area do you climb most often? Me, Foster Falls and GA crags.

Friends are Friends until the cards are dealt. Always play your best game. One tip though, never play Regs from FTR that play higher stakes on your regular stake tables. Wanna have fun move down two levels or more, but your stake is for winning. playing a couple $600NL regs on your $25nL tables is a recipe for losing several buy ins and the equivalent of pocket change to them.

do i climb? been asking myself that question recently. Three times this calendar year doesn't count... Had a session recently and sucked SOOO bad, like falling off 5.11 bad! Have climbed a lot at various stages. A few years where i climbed more than 200 days. Some serious time dirtbagging. etc. Climbed mostly at NZ crags, a load of bouldering http://www.tota.co.nz/castlehill/index.html and www.41174.org.nz show some spots, plus loads of time route climbing at places like Paynes, Whanganui Bay, Wanaka. Also some time climbing in Europe (favourite spot = Rodellar), Oz and the bluies are magic, South America etc... Recently all about running and wanting to be surfing more...
