    Default Playing after work day

    Hello everyone .

I think most of us here have a day job and most of our sessions are played after the work .

I would like to hear some suggestions for what to do before the session , so we all will feel more fresh and will play our A-game more often .

I personally like to go to the park and ride my bike and get some fresh air , maybe listen to some relaxing music before I sit in .

    Feel free to post ,

I find excersise is best. Both weight or cardio works best. It gets rid of all that negative stress and let's you play clear headed. Welcome and good luck.

I'll take about an hour ride after work to clear the cobwebs, get home shower, eat and then grind.

I come home drunk after work, beat up my wife and kids, shoot some watermelons and chickens with a shotgun in a backyard, and then when all this clears my head I go and play poker.

But pushups or any other endorfine releasing workout works just fine.

I think eating before playing is bad. If you need a meal, obv go ahead and have one, but wait at least an hour afterwards and then do your workout routine.

The reason for this is that eating will cause blood flow to be more concentrated on your stomach area and sometimes cause you to feel drowsy - not a great thing when gearing up for a session!

Anyhow that's just my 0.02, but I keep meals separated from poker as much as possible. Just keep in mind - the hungry wolf hunts best (line from KE in case anyone was wondering, lopl).

Ye, from evolutionary perspective, hunger makes you use your brain better in order to survive, so once you gather/eat food brain goes to sleep. Best to reward yourself with a meal after a winning session.

As for the other statement, well fed wolf never hunts, and hungry wolf has only 8% chance of successful hunt.

I'm in Australia and the best time to play over here is in the mornings. So it's up early, have a light breakfast and then play a few hours then go about my day. If it's after a night shift it will depend on how tired I am but usually I'll have a sleep and then play late morning or early afternoon.

I also agree that having a big meal before the session isn't a good idea for the reasons that stated above , but I think that eating something lite before the session , like fruits or a little snack , isn't' a bad Idea .

I'm actually love to eat nuts and dried fruits during my sessions .

This is what I mean lite. Eating salad before grinding is a great idea , especially if you enjoy it.

I think that the best scenario will be that we wake up 1 hour before the rush hours on the sites , when the games are great, exercise and eat something lite and then play .
But it is not possible for everyone .

I would like to hear more ideas on how to stay fresh and play more often our A-game .

Where I live , the games online are best when its evening and night .
Is its possible to develop daily routine that will make us more concentrated and waken up in the nights ?
How much you sleep or you think its personal issue?
Is there some foods that can help here?

Feel free to post , don't be shy

Eat brainy food. Chocolate makes your brain work better. Avoid any addictive sugary stuff like coke or junk food like Mcrapdonalds, it gets you high but after a short while it brings you down. Glass of milk before going to sleep, very antistressful. And ofc sleep enough to be well rested. If you have brainfreezes or cards seem fuzzy, or you 3bet 72o too much, you are not well rested.

Obviously if you have a daily job and wanto play at night you should sleep during the day. So it would be like. Sleep, poker, work, sleep, poker, work...gotta change your biorythm for that, and become a vampire.

Ofc none of this will help if you are crazy tilty maniac gambler.

Thanks for the reply , I will try the milk stuff

    I really cant sleep during the day . My shifts are : Morning 9:00 AM - 4:00PM : Evening 2:00 PM - 9:00PM .
I almost always work in the evening and the good games starts around 9:00PM - When I finish to work so I have to fresh myself after the work .

I also try now different sleep hours. Now I try to sleep 7 hours every night . Later I'll try 8 and 9 . I try to find the best for my self . I'll post here the results .
I have read that the more younger you are you should have more sleep hours .

Exercise works great for me, if I don't overdo it. I try find music to alter my mood as efficiently as possible, if I'm tired I'll play something with a fast beat, if I'm stressed something a bit more relaxing.

I also find just doing a massage along the nasal pathways and pulling and massaging each finger just before a session helps me focus, and since its become a pre-session ritual snap me into poker mode.

It's most likely a bad habit, but I usually eat a big meal before a session, then again, I'm always eating I think I'll try optimize the eating part, change to having some apples or a fruit smoothie instead of a big meal.

Its a bit odd, but as a drama student I've done quite a bit of yoga and meditation. If my session is going badly and I feel I'm starting to tilt, I close my eyes and start to hum for 10-15 seconds, whenever there is a lapse in action I do this 3 or 4 times. I usually find it helps fix my tilt from going into monkey rage.

I jerk my turkey twice before every session, am now a break-even mid-stakes pro just 10 days after depositing 10$ on pokerstars, and am making much more money than if I were to shake my flower 4 times a day with no poker at all.

    If you get whatahmsayin
