Default Perhaps my worst hand ever (Can't bluff a calling station)

So I just posted one of my best hands ever (QQ getting all-in postflop against QT), so it's only fair to post my worst one, from the same session.

WARNING: Super tilty play here. Don't try this at home.

UTG+1 was a total calling station. I knew this after c-betting a few strong hands that I had missed, but I had never actually put him all-in in those instances. I still went absolutely nuts on this hand, but it was a lot of fun, anyways . Fortunately for me, this hand woke me up to the fact that I was playing stupid, at least against this player, and I started playing a lot better. I basically got all my tilt out in one hand.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (8 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    MP1 ($8.46)
    MP2 ($3.90)
    CO ($1.32)
    Button ($5.74)
    SB ($2.02)
    Hero (BB) ($12.19)
    UTG ($6.94)
    UTG+1 ($3.22)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 7, 2
    1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.05, MP1 calls $0.05, 1 fold, CO calls $0.05, Button calls $0.05, SB calls $0.03, Hero raises to $0.50, UTG+1 calls $0.45, 4 folds

    Flop: ($1.20) A, 5, 4 (2 players)
    Hero bets $0.85, UTG+1 calls $0.85

    Turn: ($2.90) 2 (2 players)
    Hero bets $1.87, UTG+1 calls $1.87 (All-In)

    River: ($6.64) 4 (2 players, 1 all-in)

    Total pot: $6.64 | Rake: $0.30

    Results:
Hero had 7, 2 (two pair, fours and twos).
UTG+1 had J, 5 (two pair, fives and fours).
    Outcome: UTG+1 won $6.34

So this is not a play that I often make with a hand like 72o, but here I thought I'd give it a shot. There's a good amount of dead money in the pot, so I thought raising big and then folding preflop would be a reasonably +EV (or at least neutral EV) play: it only needs to work 60% of the time, and that's not even counting the ability to c-bet postflop or to hit a hidden hand with ridiculous implied odds.

Unfortunately, I got flat called by the most loose/passive player on the table. My read on this guy was that he would call postflop bets with any pair or with overs. I don't mind the flop bet since he would likely fold if he didn't have a pair, but when he calls, I can be pretty sure that he's connected somehow.

The turn play was where I just sucked. I was getting sick of this guy not giving my bets any credit, I was thinking that he might actually have to consider folding a hand if I put him all-in, and I was also thinking that he might even call with a hand like KQ. I think this works against a lot of other opponents with his holdings, but certainly not this guy. At least I had a few outs .

So he took down a decent-sized pot, but I was pretty confident that I would be able to get it all back the next time when I actually did have a hand, especially now that I knew that he would call ANY bet with ANY kind of hand. Unfortunately for me, he left before I had a chance to do that.

I think you're being serious... thanks. I didn't think it was too bad: I'm not often being called there by J5o, and when they do, they're not often hitting a hand they can call with.

On a side note, Rilla, do you have Firefox with the Adblock extension? If so, you can just right-click on BankItDrew's avatar and adblock it. I know I did .

Back on topic, I just checked out the Hammer play crashcourse link. Great thread, thanks for the link. That play must have been taking implied tilt odds into account... I often forget to do that and probably fold too soon.
