Default Patience is an Effing virtue

Do you want to play and play now? Don't ever post. Wait for the big blind.

If your average session is 9 hands you lose the 5.5ptbb/100 by posting early. My average session is 63 hands, if I consistently posted early I would lose 1.5 ptbb/100. At higher levels where even decent people run 3ptbb/100, that's half your winrate. Not to mention that a lower winrate increases your variance.

    so....WAIT FOR BIG BLIND.

Regardless of session length, it's not +EV to put money in the pot blind and usually out of position.

9 or 10-handed it's not terrible to post the big blind on the cutoff if you know for sure that no one is going to leave before your first real big blind gets around.

You're actually better off here, 1/7 < 1.5/9 and you don't play 2 hands in the worst possible positions.

this should be pretty standard, although in live poker people will give you a hard time if you don't post when you sit down.
