Default Is Party as bad as it seems

Party's software and programming are really getting to me. Has anyone else noticed that the lobby is hard to see and read. Everything overlaps, it doesnt update very fast, The Stats for table selection are crap, they count your bet as the pot when you win when folded to, they charge $1 for $5 S&G's, it fails to seat you till three hands in the tourney, and on and on. Their lowest stakes after 45 days is the 25NL tables. Why is this site so popular? Is it the fishiest anymore? Are we better off just using it as a bonus whore site, since you can clear at the 5NL and 10NL or is it still considered a good site. I'm really starting to dislike it alot and when my 45 days are up I'm gone. I am also talking from the beginner level as well, not the 100NL and 200 NL tables.

Agreed...Why doesn't party provide $10 NL and $5 NL like everyone else?????? I think I would help draw people to their site. Some of us like to build our BRs up to the $25 NL level, not simply jump right in...I hate their software and repeatedly get errors when trying to see my balance etc. Also, Their cards look stupid and I hate the little people sitting around the table...Why not let us have some pictures you cheap bastards!!!

I agree with you 100% w/r/t the lack of $5NL and $10NL, but I really liked being able to immediately look at hand histories and having them automatically saved on my computer.

After my 45 days expired, I left and am now at Paradise Poker. Very happy there.

As I was venting on this post last night I got to thinking, and pulled out my roll before the 45 days, while I wait for it to clear I made a deposit at ultimate bet. 100% bonus, great software and smooth as hell. I don't know what I was waiting for. I found a new home for now. And I finally played my first S&G in a month, 10 table, $1+.10 bubbled out in 12th. I love the S&G format but the variance is a killer on my present roll. So to have a cheaper version is great.

You are able to turn off the the characters and you can change the cards and the background, etc. This is what mine looks like:

Their software is fairly buggy and with 8 tables open for a few hours it starts to slow down, but it has the greatest game selection online, there are just so many tables available at any time of the day. The biggest feature that keeps me playing there is the ability to resize the tables, makes multitabling on limited screen real estate so much easier.

I agree they should allow you to play the beginners tables whenever you want, but that isnt a huge deal really. When you are only rolled for $10nl or under then yea, after 45 days party may not be your best choice, but at $25nl and up its a solid choice.

Oh, and that signup bonus at UB is going to take forever to clear at the micro limits [clears at $0.69 cents per table hour at $25nl for microstakes tournies itll take even longer]

    Brave words Renton!

There are many things I dislike about Party, but some of them I dislike in Stars too... The main bugbear being the UI at stars which is terrible. Go to Imperial Poker and see their tables... Easy to read, quick to see the stats and a joy to play at!

Party is just very popular. For them to make money, popular is a good thing, so is the lack of anything less than 25NL. Think about it... If you had idiots (usually drunken ones) playing at your site, wouldn't you just want to make sure that they lost _lots_ of money, rather than just a bit? If you lose a buy-in at 10NL, that's 10 bucks. You lose at 25NL, thats 25! (Ok, a bit too condescending and I am sorry about that).

I can see why peopl edon't like them though, but they advertise lots and they are popular and that breeds it's own following. Unless something really bad happens, people are just going to stay going to them and putting up with things. People are sheep, they need to be led. Party is for sheep because they do the leading for you.

party is the most popular place because they offer the widest variety of games which are among the softest around and your complaints are petty.

Thats not entirely accurate, party doesnt gain money from having somebody lose a $25 dollar stack, they gain money from rake. Lower limits allow the fish to not go bust as quickly, allowing them to be around for longer to pay more rake.

The rake is like 5% (capped at some amount, but that only comes in play at the higher stakes afaik) so for the poker site it's the same if you lose 5 buy-ins at 10NL or 2 buyins at 25NL. If their rake is 5% they take $2.5 all the same.

I think Party sucks if you're a multitabler. The PokerStars software just makes it much easier to keep track of all the tables you're on. I played at Party the other day because of the reload bonus, and even though I was only playing 5 tables, I still timed out once every 5-10 minutes or so because I didn't realize that it was my turn.

Plus PS has a much better rewards program.

I think the biggest thing for partypoker currently [in terms of multitabling] is the resizeable tables feature, until pokerstars has that it wont compare to party in regards to multitabling. You can get a program like MTH to help with that which makes it much much easier.

I do agree with you that yes, stars is more customer oriented [better rewards, service, etc.]

Technically yes, but that isnt how it always works out in test. To carry this example in the opposite way, the reason they dont have more high stakes tables is so that the fish dont go broke as quickly again so that they make more from the rake.

I closed my Party account, I go to press check & next thing I am calling a bloody raise . Too many bugs. I know it's my fault , bit it gives you the shits after a couple of losses.
