Once more, for the cheap seats: bb/100?

Default Once more, for the cheap seats: bb/100?

Okay. I've read a few posts on this and I'm still not 100% I understand.

    People talk about 10 BB/100.
As I understand this, we're talking about 10 Big Bets per 100 hands (or per hour or something).
This is a Limit concept? The turn bet?

From what I've read with NLHE we take the BB (big bet) to be the 2xBB (big blinds).
So how do we work out BB/100? I mean, if I am averaging a profit of $2.30 per hundred hands, and the BB is $0.04 then am I really making 28bb/100?

Or have I got it all confused?

Yes, you are correct, assuming that by BB in your sum you mean big blind. Good going

The concept of big bets and big blinds is unfortunately messy, all the more so because they happen to have the same initials. The figure of BB/100 as used to measure success in NL games is: how many (2 x the big blind) you have won per 100 hands.

Yea, if that is what the big bet is, and that is how much you make every hundred hands, then that is your current ptbb/100. At the higher limits I would say that is very unstustainable, at these levels it seems high but from what Ive heard of the play at these levels, a solid game should be killing these which it looks like you have. How many hands have you played at $5nl?

Yep. You got it, its because Poker Tracker was initially invented for Limit players. PT uses big bets, everyone uses PT, so big bets became the standard.

    Correct.

If your big blind is $0.04 then your Big Bet is $0.08.

    2.30/0.08 = 28 ptBB/100
Please allow me to introduce a handy standard.

ptBB = poker tracker big bet = big bet

    bb = big blind

    Spread the word.

Oh and enjoy your 28ptbb/100 while you have it. Believe me as you move up at shrinks rapidly.

Smart. That puts it into perspective.

Right. That helps make a few things clearer. Cheers.

Move up my arse. I'm gonna learn how to multi-table 50 tables instead.

Only 3k. So, yeah, pinch of salt. It's gone up to 35ptbb/100 now, btw.

And yes, it's completely because they suck more.
If *wish* I had a solid game.

Heh.. but I think moving up is really a good idea in your case now. You're killing 5NL, and 10NL probably won't be too much harder.

When I moved from 10NL to 20NL, I noticed that it really wasn't that much harder. Simply playing for double the profit . (this is why I moved at 10 buy-ins already) I do expect 50NL to be quite different though.. I took a look there and it seemed a lot tighter, lotsa folding. But I figure, if it's twice as hard, the profit is still x2.5 so it's still good to move when I get the BR ^^. Plus you can grow as a player, 20NL is becoming kinda mind-numbing.

    So 1 big bet = 2 x the big blind? I thought it was 1 for 1.
