Not sure how to play these hands before the flop

Im a little stuck on AQ, AJ, and A10 other than to fold if I see a decent sized bet go out, and with AQ on a reraise(from what ive gathered anyway)but if there is no preflop raise should I throw out a good sized bet, or just see the flop? Im leaning toward the bet and fold if its reraised a good amount.. but im still pretty new so yah ill ask the experts

I'm not an expert, but what I have been doing with A-Q and A-J is raise roughly 4-5x BB (usually $4-$5) if I am in late position in an unraised pot. Don't know the exact figure but probaby 60% of the time I take it right there. I wish I had access to my Poker Tracker here at work....but I believe that I have had A-Q roughly 10 times in the last week and have won with it 100% of the time...whereas A-A is around 75%....K-Q on the other hand is my nemesis.
I have been forcing myself to see fewer flops and raise far more than just call - it has made a significant difference in my game.

If you take a look on the front page of this site there are some very useful recommendations for how to play pre flop. They are well worth a read.

To summarise what they say. AQ is certainly a strong hand where as AJ and AT need to be handled a bit more carefully. The probelm with them is that if you hit a J or T although you have best kicker you could run into overcard troubles.

Its situational. Example: Tourney

Early in a Tourney I will probably throw a 3xBB raise on this hand and see the flop. The post flop play will vary if I hit miss or see weakness or strength.

Late in a tourney, in a short stack position I would Go all In with any of these hands If i'm a good sized stack I would call and AI with AQ AJ, and A10 depending on the player.

Ring games are different. In A ring game I would play the 3xbb raise (I keep a constant 3x or 4xBB raise on any hand to not give away information on my hand) The it is just post flop play.

The thing to remember is AQ AJ and A10 and vulnerable hands and can easily get busted, don't get busted on them!

These are tricky hands that vary greatly on the table/flop. There is no easy simple anwer.
