Default Not doing well in party ring

I joined party a couple of days ago and am having problems. I was playing at VC with 200BB stacks and lots of passive players. I'm finding the average party player a lot more aggressive which is screwing my draws early.

I guess i've got to tighten up and play better starting hands. Even though i'm not doing very well the bonus is keeping me in the positive, no one really got through to me just how easy the party bonus is to clear, i should have an extra $150 in a day or two, and i might need it to break even. I've taken a couple of beats which have chewed up $70, if they'd gone the other way i'd be about 70 up plus 80 bonus and wouldn't be writing this so maybe i shouldn't worry.

I tend to win a few small pots, get up to $30-35 and then get a big pocket pair and lose to either the pair above (QQ ran into KK twice) or lose to a desperate chaser.I don't like to complain about my luck and i don't think i'm dwelling but i'm a bit concerned i may be doing something wrong.

    Any thoughts?

Doesn't sound like you're doing anything specifically wrong...I agree that starting hand selection may need some work (but then again I haven't yet migrated over to party).

I've had issues with losing big pots after I've built up a nice stack as well. The solution I came to was to cash out once my stack reached a certain point, just for my own comfort level. Just because you're buying in with an amount that's proportionate to your BR doesn't mean that the amount you have on the line after winning a lot is still proportional.

Thanks for the reply Jeff, i think i was just in a cold stretch of cards, but until you've played at a site for a while you can't tell the difference between a cold streak and everyone having a magic read on you so they just beat your head in whenever there's a decent pot to be had. Well i'm basically back to even now (before my bonus) so all is well.
