FWIW, I also use "shut up <insert name>, don't be an a$$". I want to say it's 75% effective.

what have i said that is bad and what is making me look worse, or is it just the fact I' m not kissing a regualr posters ass that has annoyed you
It's not about kissing a regulars ass. It's about not being a prick. People like FTR because of the laid back community style. We don't encourage random flaming, especially when it isn't warranted.
I really didn't want to do this, but...

No because it's -eV. This has been beat to death, not only in this thread, but countless others. Not to mention several books by many excellent poker playing authors (e.g. SS, HOH, Ace on the River, everything Sklansky has written).

This is an ignorant opinion. One that leads to problems that we generally avoid here at FTR. Insults do bother some people. Why introduce negative feelings into an environment where people are trying to have fun, especially if that person's fun includes giving you money.

I'm sure this is true sometimes, but if there is a 1% chance that insulting a fish scares it away then it's a -eV decision.
