    Default Newbie Questions

I have browsed the forum for about a week now and I am wondering what certain terms mean.

When someone is refering they are running at 8pt/100 what does that mean?

Also, what does ROI mean? I think it has something to do with winnings in tournaments, but what exactly is it?

ROI - return on investment expressed as a percentage. If you enter a tournament that costs you $10 and you win $20, your ROI is 100% (you made $10 profit on a $10 investment).

8PTBB/100 is an expression of the amount you beat (or otherwise) the game. PT refers to Poker Tracker, a software program that tracks all your poker games for you and compiles a sophisticated database of all your hands. Bec ause it was originaly created with limit hold'em in mind, it measures long term financial return in terms of Big Bets, which equate to 2 x big blind of the game you're playing in.

Therefore, a return of 8PTBB/100 at $50NL (where the blinds are $0.25/$0.50) equates to a profit of $8 per hundred hands.
