Just don't pick anything on the iPoker network, they're a bunch of crooks. Stick with the big reputable sites Pokerstars, Full Tilt or Party.
And don't you start higher than 2nl. Just deposit $50, that is 25 buy-ins for 2nl or the lowest sit'n go's (the very lowest sng are a real pain though, because the rake is very, very high, esp. on Party). Move up only when you have at least 20 buy ins for the next level.
Play very tight to start with and very, very rarely bluff, just like in Keith's link. Learn discipline first, you will open up your game later.
And if you are really totally new to online poker and the game itself, there is no shame in playing some play money for starters, although you really have to get to the high levels of play money before the game play becomes similar to the very lowest cash stakes, so you can play to get used to the software etc but don't bring bad habits from the play money tables to the cash tables. People are going to do much less stupid sh*t in real money games (although they'll still do stupid sh*t).
Also don't just play. Study also. Read books, watch videos, review hands, learn probability and expected value calculations, etc.
Also learn ranges: before taking any action, always ask yourself what is the range of hands your opponent could be holding for playing the hand like he did so far.
If you will play tournaments, a good book to start with is Harrington on Hold'em.
If you will play cash, start with Sklansky's no limit theory and practice (arduous, but must read).
Check out the beginner's digest also, some great threads in there, among others spoonitnow's mathematics of EV for a superb intro to poker math and "how to analyze calling an all-in".
