Put villain on a range, think about your perceived range (if he's not a monkey), your position in the hand and why you're c-betting a particular flop. If someone raises your c-bet and you don't have a very strong hand or decent draw, you should fold. There are obviously extenuating circumstances for calling and/or 3-betting but let's leave that out of the discussion for now.
