Name for betting turn after cbetter checked back flop

Is there an official name for the following play:

You call a raise preflop; you check the flop out of position and it's checked back by the preflop raiser; then on the turn you lead out w/ a bet.

I believe a "stab" requires that you're in position. And it's not a donk because that would require that you call a cbet on the flop. I suppose it's sort of a delayed donk. I dunno. Does this play have a name? I see it (and use it) all the time. Just curious.

Yeah but don't you need to call (float) a bet first on the flop before you get aggro on the turn? It's a similar idea I suppose, but the move I'm referring to has more to do with basically pouncing when you sense weakness from a preflop raiser. See here: www.thepokerbank.com/strategy/plays/float. well, i assume since we're oop, the times we get aggressive mostly are when a street gets checked through. obviously if we c/c a street and lead the next that doesn't count as floating.

but i think yeah to be pedantic about it, when you're floating you're doing it IP mostly and if you find yourself in OOP spots a lot without initiative you might need to reconsider your PF play that puts you in that spot??

Probe is the definition PokerTracker uses for what you described (betting OOP after a missed cbet). As opposed to a float, which is betting IP after a missed cbet.

I thought a float was when you call a flop C-bet IP, with the intent to fire a wide range on a checked turn.

This is correct and what I have heard everyone use it for in the past 5 years.

Ah yes, that's it! A PROBE bet. Cool. Just googled it and confirmed it here too: www.pokerlistings.com/pure-bluffs-floating-and-probe-bets. It's similar to a blocking bet, but it seems like those are flop bets oop mostly in unraised pots.

Probe bet is such a jokes name, I would never tell anyone I made a "probe bet" on the turn and expect them to know what I meant

I think the best thing to say is like "I lead turn after a missed cbet" or something similar

Let's just give meaningless names to every possible combination of betting options.
