I will generally check the turn on most boards. It prevents oop from C/R if they have a monster and it induces river bluffs. If I hit top pair I will usually check turn then call any reasonable river maybe up to the pot. Most Stars nits will C/R the turn with their sets very transparent, its like none of them ever heard of raising the flop.
you forgot to add they also still pay off the implied odds of calling the turn raise with a flush draw and rivering it after you raised preflop in mp with 87s and not AA.
