My first first!
I know it's not that amazing, but I just had my first 1st position on a £1.00+£0.20 NL Single table SNG
After many many 3rds, not so many 2nds, it was nice to at long last pick up a first position. It only paid out £5, but I'm really happy.
Of course I followed it up with a really pathetic 6th position which was a very silly thing to do because I was in profit (just) for today until I did that. Still, the important thing is I know I was stupid, I played badly, I went all in on a weak hand and tried to bluff everyone pre-flop but a couple of them had a big enough stack and nice enough hand to call me. I had them beat before the flop for about 3 seconds, then they dropped pairs in and knocked me out. I am stupid. I will repeat this to myself 500 times before playing another hand. There is absolutely no reason to come below 5th in a £1.20 single table, because up until that point you can just check/fold your way around every hand and let all the nutcases all-in each other. When there are 5 left, you can start playing properly, and you know the 5 people left are likely to be playing properly, which of course means the judgements you make on their hands are more accurate than people who just pick the fold/call/raise button at random on every hand!
Anyway, enough rambling, I got my first 1st and I'm happy
