RAM is weird though. You want to check your system after you install it so that you are sure that it is using the RAM that you put it. For some reason, it took a couple of times for my system to recognize it.
If you put new RAM in and your system doesn't boot-up, don't panic. Just do a hard shutdown and take an eraser and run it over the gold connecting teeth. This will help to remove static. Don't ask me why this works, but I had this problem and I got this advice from a computer forum and it worked like a charm.
