Multi tabling

    Default Multi tabling

    Just a quick question;

I want to start playing a few more tables, what is the best way to set them out? Is it best to let them pop up when they need an action or is there a way of "tiling" them so I can see all the tables at once?

I use Windows 7 btw if that helps.

    Personal preference

I prefer no overlap, so nothing becomes hidden while I'm watching it.

Yeah, depends on what you like. You can tile them though options- too long since I've played on stars to remember how. The tables always got too small for me with a lot of tables so I cascaded them. I could play up to 16 tables that way and still be able to click through the tables to see what was going on. Table ninja helped a lot there too. Fuck I miss having all that shit.

*edit* you can create custom layouts on stars too. Just load a bunch of tables without joining and play around with it until it feels right.

Ah right OK, I didn't know you could customize it using PS, I was trying to do it by resizing the windows myself. Thanks lads, will have a look at it.

That done the job, they actually had a tiling option haha! The tables do go a little small with 4 of them so it might be hard to see my PT stats on players but will see what I can do.

    hi Coby,

you can do the manual-size-and-place thing too if you find auto-tiling makes each table a bit small for your HUD, and you can tolerate a bit of overlap.

If you go to the lobby and make sure View|Remember Table Positioning is checked, PS will use the same layout each time you open up a session

i use this to 4-table on my main system with no overlap, and 6-table with a little bit of overlap. 'sOK.

on the laptop, i have to put up w/ overlap, LDO.

One thing to watch out for if you do have some overlap is be careful where you click if you ever want to manually bring a table to the front, or something like. I've had a couple of experiences with the action buttons from table B popping up under my mouse-cursor when i was trying to tag a player on table A. LOL.

    hope this helps

I tried that but for some reason every time I tried to resize a second window it just went to the maximum size. I wasn't doing anything different than the first window and when I dragged down it just wouldn't work. Actually, thinking about it, I think it was because they always keep the window in that square size so you can't really play about with them too much. Will have a look at that later on today.

@Bold: Already done that, raised quite a big sum with some "marginal" hands

Id say load up 4-6 tables hit Ctrl+9 and if your HUD's to small switch it off, don't really need it at 2nl imo, just play decent volume with a tight and aggressive style and value bet the crap out of the feesh.

Are there any free multi-tabling scripts you would recommend?

Recommend? Probably not. I don't think you need one.

Placemint is meant to be the best free program though, although I hear it's a pain to set up. Stack and Tile is $18 a month and meant to be very good too.

soaking up ethanol, moving on up
open however many tables it is that you want to play (don't sit at them)
move them around and re-size them until your heart is content
go to the lobby -> view -> save custom layout
apply this layout whenever you play if it somehow isn't set as default (view - apply active layout)

Depends how many tables you want to play really. I'd recommend tiling if playing 9 or less tables so you can see the action okay on all tables (unless the overlap is too great due to a poor quality monitor). Anymore than 9-12 tables and stacking is vital in my opinion to give yourself at least some time to make decisions, rather than having the mouse pointer flying everywhere.

Frosty has a video on Pokerstars online school regarding his multi-tabling set-up that's worth a look, including Table Ninja. I'd also recommend playing Zoom if you want to play more hands without having too many tables on your screen (plus the player pool seems worse on Zoom).

I can't play more than 6 tables unless I stack. I can see why people would prefer cascade, but stacking is pretty sweet imo.

Big monitors are the best and if on stars hit Control 9 and it'll auto cascade them. Playing on a 15'' screen will be very difficult to play 8 tables or so, they are TINY and/or overlap.

I personally like to have them cascaded just because I kind of memorize where the fish is based on where the table is so I when stacked I lose track and have to look through the HUDs again. I guess that is where color coding helps too. If you color code your players you stack easier. Nit = blue, fish = green, LAG = red etc etc. (Sorry for the run on thought)

I prefer to tile the tables so I can see everything going on, and so I don't get "sat out" of a game. Sometimes while multi tabling it can be your turn to act. on multiple tables at once, this is why I hate stacking the tables over one another. I can just cause you so many unforseen problems. I would suggest tiling them!

I'm not sure if this is still of use to anyone, but you may be able to get some ideas from it.

i run a program that displays villains' actions thru the hand (longHUD) so I just stack all the 20 tables I play, coz there's no need to remember the action myself. Tableninja for tablecontroll but u can find scripts that do the same for free
